Rush Limbaugh just said, minutes ago, that he is certain Romney’s conversion to ProLife and other positions were genuine.

“He explains why he changed his mind. He shows contrition. I believe Mitt Romney ‘s conversion is genuine,” Limbaugh said.

He went VERY far today toward almost endorsing Romney, although he continues to admit that ALL the candidates have flaws... and have done things NOT conservative in the past.

Cuz he is just like a bunch of us. As Fred fades, we've gotta hang our hat somewhere, and it can't be Benedict McQueeg, can it?

Rush Limbaugh doesn't matter one whit when it comes to an opinion on pro-life.

The Christians will walk away. Giuliani and Romney are both non-starters from a social conservative point of view... and McCain isn't far behind them.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the following happened:

At some point in the past year, people like Limbaugh and other conservative thought leaders have had face to face meetings with some of the Republican candidates, at least the ones that cared about the conservative base of the Republican party.

Romney was one of those candidates and he got grilled by those present and he was able to defend himself.

Rush is also a Buckley/NR friend and he agreed with their analysis.

NR's endorsement isn't an emphatic one, but that's the nature of this year's Presidential election cycle.
