Many times, if cops weren’t cops, they’d be thugs.

re: many times cops would be thugs”.

and you know this exactly how? One man’s thug is another man’s hero.

I bet the cop that showed up at your doorstep because the neighbor was threatening a restraining order was a “thug” but the cop that showed up when your house was vandalized was a “hero”....

They ARE thugs. The difference being their gang has a nifty badge they can flash.

"Many times, if cops weren’t cops, they’d be thugs."

Many more times they are both. My guess is that Officer Leo Limpdiq decided to exercise his privileges as an Uber-citizen and took personal offense that Grandma wasn't as worshiping and respectful as the peasant class is supposed to be. I guess he didn't realize that she grew up and was educated when the constitution was still being taught.

There does seem to be a fine line the cops seem to cross occationally.
This seems to be one of those times.

I don’t think they are all thugs, but there are certainly a lot of them that have serious problems with everyday matters.I don’t know what went on in this situation, but I wonder if cop really tried to talk to this lady, or wanted to show her what he COULD do.

“Many times, if cops weren’t cops, they’d be thugs.”

True. ll new cops should undergo a round of testing and pychotherapy if needed.

Many cops by the nature of their work, become thugs, even tho they were gfood to start.

Remember you said this the next time you need one.

Granted, they are only minutes away when seconds count.

Most LEO’s are a product of the department where they work. If the department has an institutional attitude of respecting law abiding citizens, the LEO’s reflect this attitude or move on. If the department has the attitude that every one is a criminal who has not been caught yet, the same.

I once asked a local commissioner what they did with juvenile delinquents. He said “we let the draft take them, that gets them out of here, keeps them away a couple years, teaches them a little, and if they happen come back we put them on the police force.”

Sad to say it, but I agree. I’ve had first-hand experience several times and know this to be true. It’s such a power trip for so many that couldn’t get any respect otherwise. But I do know some really decent ones, although they are the exception.

That’s pretty unfair!!! There are some bad apples, but as the wife of a Policew Chief who has been in Law Enforcement for many years, I can honestly say most of the cops, both young and old are in the profession because it’s a call on their life. They have wanted this since they were little children. It’s VERY wrong to paint with a broad brush!

A seventy + woman who had never been in trouble before and a hot headed rookie cop who, if you watch the video, told the woman she was mentally ill because she dared to question his zeal in demanding ID.

If the cop had been a gentleman he would have seen that the woman was confused about where she was suppose to park and offered to move the car for her. Instead he escalated the situation.

The Mayor apologized to her. Why are people still unable to correctly sum up the situation?
