Not to mention that it is very easy for all but the wealthiest families to get financial aid for college and the interest rates on student loans are often so low that it makes sense to borrow and leave the money invested elsewhere.
I do not know if it is an option or not, but have you considered home schooling?
We should learn from what Schwartzneggar has given California in S.B. 777. This is what a RINO gave California yet some here still support RINOs for President. No Thanks.
“Ummmmmmm.I voted for Mclintock...”
Me too. This state isn’t worthy of him.
After years of trying to make a difference in the public school forum. My “choice” last year was to withdraw my highly impressionable children from one of the state’s highest API scoring districts and put them in a much better academic performing private because of garbage like this. It’s only going to get worse in public schools. Two words: Social Engineering.
Does this force girls into lockers and shower rooms with self identfied girly-boys? The veracity of the girly-boys will soon be evident.

Why are so-called “good” teachers aiding, abetting, cooperating, and assisting with this? HUH?
Is it because they are **NOT** “good” teachers???!!!
If you read the article, above, it says the teachers — good, bad or indifferent — don’t want to have anything to do with it.
“My two children, God willing, will never step inside of a public classroom in CA.”
While I had a couple of good teachers, I wish I had never stepped inside the public school system. It messed me up for years.
Articles like this don’t even surprise me anymore. I’m only surprised that others are still surprised.

Exactly!!!
It **IS** about values, morals, ethics, and ideals...ALL of which have religious consequences!
So...What are Christian government teachers doing about it? As I see it there are only 2 possible choices for a true Christian teacher:
1) The Christian teacher can vehemently oppose, protest, completely reject, and absolutely refuse to cooperate with any other teacher or principal in the implementation of 777. In other words, they will likely get fired!
2) Quit!
There is NO other possible ethical behavior open to a TRUE Christian.
If the so-called “Christian” teacher cooperates with SB 777, he or she is teaching the students some very negative lessons to the students about Christianity and Christians.
If the so-called “Christian” teacher falsely thinks that they can slyly sneak a little salt and light to their students, then they are teaching the students that Christians are sneaky and sly.
If they tell the students that they don’t agree with the SB777 policies, but then cooperate, they are teaching the students that Christians are too fearful, timid, and lukewarm in their faith too tell this to the adults running the school, but will inflict these false and hurtful policies on CHILDREN, and apologize while doing it!
If so-called Christian teachers continue to open the doors to government schools that enforce SB777, then they are teaching the students that Christians will sell their Christian principles for a paycheck, health benefits, a summer vacation, and a pension!
One teacher complained asked me, “How would I make a living?” Well!...If Christian teachers stay on the job because they are afraid to leave then they are teaching the children that Christians do not trust God’s Providence, and also that Christians are too stupid and fearful to make a living in the free market.
Only 85% of children from Christian families remain faithful in their religion 2 years after graduating from government high school. Compare this to the 90% or more of homeschoolers who DO remain faithful. Could it be the example of their TEACHERS that is making the difference?
So-called “Christian” teachers who cooperate with SB777 are making the job of the TRUE missionaries MUCH harder! If Christ would spit lukewarm, sneaky, sly, timid, stupid, and fearful Christians out of HIS mouth, personally, I am not at all surprised that students do as well!
Christian teachers should be doing the following:
1) Their own children are their most important mission field. They should get their own kids out of the government school swamps.
2) The children of their congregation are their next most important mission field. Christian teachers should be working with their ministers to organize mini-schools, micro-schools, one room school houses, homeschool cooperatives, etc. Christian teachers could be a tremendous resource for the members of their congregations.
3)Once their congregation has a well functioning system of schools, then non-members could be invited in, but only to the extent that it does not overwhelm the Christian culture of the school. Christian teachers could teach these non-members how to be good parents, and how to establish a learning centered home. These non-members could be introduced to the gospel.
4)Every child who wants a Christian education should be able to get one...for FREE! Christians should be organizing private voucher foundations to provide private vouchers to private Christian schools. These Christian foundations could provide inspection, certification, and testing for the private schools. If Harvard can have a $35 BILLION dollar endowment...surely Christians could do the same for Christian education! They could do it if they WANTED.
5) Christian teachers should be working with relatives, friends, and neighbors to see that government school indoctrination camps were completely and totally SHUT DOWN! They can not be reformed! Compulsory government owned and run K-12 schools was a flawed concept from the beginning.
6) It is time that Christians organized their own sports teams. It is time to break the government school monopoly on team sports!
It is time that EVERY child who wanted it, was receiving the BEST education in the WORLD!...a TRUE Christian education!
Christian teachers should stop using a watering can to sprinkle a little faith on the cultural forest fire that is raging in their government school! The only solution to completely shut down all government K-12 schools and develop a universal private system of K-12 education.
If you read the article, above, it says the teachers good, bad or indifferent dont want to have anything to do with it.

I did read the article.
A GOOD teacher would be organizing with other good teachers to march on Sacramento! I don’t see that happening. Do you?
What I see are ineffectual, weak, timid, fearful, and COMPLICIT teachers and principals who are cooperating with the cultural filthy being promoted in their government schools!
I don’t call that “good”. I call it BAD!
They already have most of the southern part.
I voted for Tom but, if I recall (no pun intended) correctly, there were more than a few FReepers who insisted that we should all support Arnold because "everyone knew" that McClintock couldn't win.
bump
While I understand why you feel this way, your plan would effectively remove the few remaining Christian teachers from the public school system. It is easy for you to advocate that people quit their jobs, but some people have family obligations and simply can’t afford to. Some are only a few years away from retirement and you want them to give up what they have worked for for 20 years. I think this legislation and its requirements are so flawed and badly reasoned that there will be no effective way to put it into practice. My kids went to single-sex parochial schools. At the time, that meant that girls went to school with girls, and boys went to school with boys. The term “single-sex” school now has a whole new meaning.
Yes, it would remove Christian teachers from the government schools. For all the reason that I posted, Christian teachers are actually hurting the cause of Christianity. They are NOT advancing Christianity.
If 85% of Christian children from Christian homes leave the faith after graduating from government school, what possible influence could a Christian teacher have on non-Christians. It's like aiming a water pistol at a raging forest fire!
If Christian teachers really wanted to make a difference that would be working to assure that her/his own children and the children of his/her congregation received a thoroughly Christian based education.
If Christian teachers really wanted to make a difference they would be working to SHUT DOWN the government atheistic indoctrination camps ( mis-named "schools") and working to see that every child in the nation had access to a private education.
It is easy for you to advocate that people quit their jobs, but some people have family obligations and simply cant afford to.
Well..What are these teachers teaching their students? Answer: That a pension and paycheck is more important than Christian truth. They are also teaching their students that Christians do not have faith in God's Providence, or that Christians are too stupid and incompetent to find work in the free market.
Some are only a few years away from retirement and you want them to give up what they have worked for for 20 years.<
These Christian teachers are teaching their students that Christians will sell their principles for a pension.
I think this legislation and its requirements are so flawed and badly reasoned that there will be no effective way to put it into practice.
If Christian teachers do not protest, refuse to cooperate, and assist in this law's implementation, then they are teaching the students that Christians will subject students to a concept that is flawed and badly reasoned. Sounds to me like child abuse! Wow! What a way to win students to Christ! (sigh!)
If non-Christian teachers do not protest and refuse to impliment this law then they are NOT "good" teachers! They are BAD teachers!
My kids went to single-sex parochial schools. At the time, that meant that girls went to school with girls, and boys went to school with boys. The term single-sex school now has a whole new meaning.
You absolutely did the right thing! Encourage friends, neighbors, and relatives to do the same.
