ESPN Anchor Goes On Vulgar Anti-Jesus Rant at Celebrity Roast
NewsBusters ^ | 1/20/08 | Noel Sheppard

In the past few decades, as political correctness has taken hold of virtually every industry, folks involved in sports and sportscasting that have made racist or sexist remarks on camera have typically been fired or forced to make public apologies.

Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder's termination by CBS back in 1988 is a fine example, with the recent two-week suspension of Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman being another.

Yet, given what happened on an Atlantic City dais on January 11, where a high-profile ESPN anchor went on an alcohol-induced tirade which included a vulgar reference to Jesus Christ, it appears public antitheism is not politically incorrect.

After all, until this moment, you probably hadn't heard about this incident, and the person involved apparently has not been publicly admonished for her behavior by her employer.

Worth re-posting. Why hasn't she been canned? This needs more reporting. I'm sick and tired of Christianity being trashed with no consequences.

Hey, it’s been open-season on Christianity for years now, and you don’t even need a tag from Game & Fish. Like the writer said: “Better not try it with allah, though”. Small complaint: why should I have to read 16 paragraphs to find out who said it and what they said?

At least she didn’t mention a “noose”. That would’ve been unforgivable.

Therefore, you are outraged when pastors of large congregations are skewered by the left's MSM?

some of these “celebrities” live such shallow lives. Their shallowness frequently reveals itself as they’re raving about something in a drunken stupor. The liberal double-standard is always there to rescue them.

Private party. Alcohol involved. Sports theme.

You have to expect a bit of naughty talk.

Do the Christian thing and forgive them all.

Sometimes I wonder why Jesus Christ is attacked with such viciousness. I don’t know the answer. Maybe it is because people know deep inside there maybe something right about it but would rather attack it than think about it or change. Maybe it is because becoming a Christian is so against everything we now believe in our culture (being cool, materialism, it is all about me, PC politics, etc.). Maybe it is because some live their entire lives in a set of beliefs and near the end of it look back and see it all mattered for nothing and are pissed.

It offends people when you tell them they need to be forgiven of their sins.... And that is simply to be expected.

You cannot expect the unbelievers to be especially gracious in their language toward Christ. Like it or not, He can be very offensive.

Sometimes the concept of hell gets people worked up. The argument on “How can a good God cast people into hell when they have lived a pretty good life” is false logic. Hell is a place where God is absent. This is exactly what the people who rejected God all their lives wanted. The “pit” of hell maybe a very comfortable place where everyone who rejected God their entire lives must now reside knowing they had lived their lives in a lie. That they had wasted it all. That actually may be worse than a guy with pitchfork.

God has given us all the “free will” to chose. God has sent his only son to die for us, to suffer for our sins and to show us the way. God could have easily made a bunch of robots that would do everything he said but instead loved us enough for us to make our own decisions. So tell you relatives to make their own decision after they have reviewed the evidence. After all, Jesus Christ’s resurrection is either the supreme fact in the history of mankind or a gigantic hoax. If Christ’s resurrection is true — they ignore its implications at our own peril. If not — Christianity is the biggest fraud in the history of the world and should be easy enough to disprove. If they believe it is a hoax, then they must take an honest look at the evidence. And the evidence is overwhelming...

Good God. Say who it was........

Dana Jacobson a “SportsCenter” anchor for ESPN in 2005, and later made a co-host of that network’s morning show “Cold Pizza” which is now “ESPN First Take.”

Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder's termination by CBS back in 1988 is a fine example...

Back a couple weeks ago O was watching the latest Chris Tucker Live set on Comedy Channel. And he used the exact same example that got Jimmy the Greek fired to male his point that that is why so many black athletes dominate in the NFL, bball, and baseball. And the crowd was applauding hysterically.

Who is going to post the photo of Christian Rage Boy? Where are the pictures of Lutherans overturning cars and burning them in the street? When will the Pope issue a fatwa calling for the sportscaster’s death? Oh, wait, wrong religion...

Dana Jacobson, anchor in question. Nice that the crawl caught “Gonzaga,” which is always a funny word.
