Please. Are we that stupid?

We are stupid if we nominate McCain as our nominee. He is not a conservative when it comes to other than social issues.

He voted against the Bush tax cuts several times. He was the architect of McCain-Feingold, which limits politcal speech. He was part of the gang of 14 that accepted the Dems filibustering of judicial nominees, the first time it has ever been done.

And McCain's stance on immigration would destroy this country. He wants to legalize the status of the 12 to 20 million illegals who would then sponsor more than 65 million more LEGAL immigrants thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification. McCain was one of the principal authors of the 2006 bill [S. 2611] that passed Senate with the Dems voting 39-4 FOR it and the Reps voting 32-23 AGAINST it with McCain being one of the 23. And the 2007 McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill would have expanded the number of illegals granted legal status from the 2006 bill.

McCain is not a man of honor. McCain call the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth "dishonest and dishonorable." "Still, it was McCain who again came to Kerry's defense at an opportune time for Democrats. McCain, who challenged Bush for the GOP nomination in 2000, has become a central, if sometimes reluctant, figure in the campaign -- for both sides. Kerry courted him as a potential running mate after McCain defended Kerry's war record on national television. At rallies, Kerry frequently cites his relationship with McCain as evidence of bipartisanship."

"In an interview with the Associated Press, McCain called the ad "dishonest and dishonorable." Asked if the White House was behind it, McCain said: "I hope not, but I don't know. But I think the Bush campaign should specifically condemn the ad."

Romney is a corporate Republican. If you think he will be a Tancredo on the border you’re nuts. He will sign a comprhensive bill like Mccain was pushing. The difference is McCain has gotten the message and is a man of his word who can win.

A vote for Romney is a vote for Hillary or Obama passing an immigration bill with a dem congress. Not only that but for every other major issue. Retreat/defeat in Iraq, socialist health care, judges, tax raises and on and on. A vote for Romney is a vote for a Dem and all liberal policies. Just know what you’re asking for.

I oppose McCain, not because I have read all the arguments against him, esp. immigration reform, gang of 14, McCain-Feingold, but because I EXPERIENCED being betrayed by McCain at the time these events took place and remember them vividly. How is it that a maverick can unite the party? McCain’s greatest strength is also his greatest weakness. If nominated how is this guy going to raise money from conservatives who aren’t sure they can bring them selves to vote for him? McCain is the 2nd choice of very few in the GOP and the last choice of many.
