At least McCain supports the war on terror and that is a priority. And he’s pro-life.

Too bad he's not pro-Constitution. Of those that are left the only ones I'd vote for in the general are Thompson or Paul.

McCain has done more to destroy conservative initiatives the past eight years than Hillary or Bill Clinton could dream up in their wildest fantasy.

McCain will face a virtual WALL of opposition if he is the nominee.

All the Republicans he stabbed in the back over the past 15 years will sit home on their butts..... and their numbers are legion, as the saying goes.

Mitt’s record isn’t like McCain’s. Even fred thompson has blemishes........ granted, mitt has more.

But McCain...... my god........... *phew*

With all that he’s done over the past few years I don’t see how he’s still got an 80 somthing lifetime ACU score.

Naw, you don’t want the healthy Romney to suddenly die of a “brain tumor” or something like that, now would you?

...but walks like a Liberal.

Can you please outline the 'liberal' laws or legislation which Romney passed.

Not statements he might have made during a campaign, but legislation.

It just looks like a good East/West combo to beat Hillary and that’s the main focus really.

You mean Steele’s not a nice person? Or were you referring to Fred?

You should NEVER want McCain ANYWHERE NEAR the ticket. He and his followers are capable of ANYTHING. Plus, you don’t want McCain dealing with the other GOP Senators. They LOATHE him.

Romney’s talks like a Conservative, but walks like a Liberal.

Besides, it is McCain who better fits that statement.

McCain would close down Gitmo. McCain would end waterboarding.

McCain would give Democrats power to squash conservative judges for US Supreme Court.

McCain would open our borders to millions of NEW illegal immigrants.

THAT sounds like a liberal to me.

Romney's record, in fact, is fairly conservative -- despite his 15-year old dumb pandering statments which the Romney haters have repeated over and over and over -- ad naseum.

I can't figure out why Phil Gramm is backing McCain.

Gramm was one of the most conservative of GOP Senators. What's up with that?

My thoughts too, but I’m not sure Romney can win in the General election. Will the south vote for a Mormon? Also will the NRA go against him?

But if he doesn’t win, I think we’d be better off with a Hillary prez as that would not only unite our party but it would unite the country against her...just as clinton did in 94 when we were swept to power.

You’ve got a choice between Romney, McCain, Huckabee, and Giuliani. You could of course vote for someone who has no chance of getting the nomination, or getting elected if he did, but you might as well vote for yourself, if you’re thinking of voting for someone other than those 4.

And of the 4, McCain and Huckabee are the most liberal by far. There is really nothing about McCain that is conservative. Huckabee is conservative on abortion and gay rights, but is liberal on virtually everything else. Giuliani is conservative on most economic issues, but is liberal on social issues.

That leaves Romney. You can grumble about whether he’s really a conservative. I’ve done my share of that myself. But it’s really beyond dispute that he’s more conservative than the other 3. I don’t personally think that Huckabee and Giuliani can beat Hillary, so I view it as a choice between Romney and McCain. Given those two alternatives, I go with Romney hands down.

It would be worse to be back-stabbed by McCain, one of our own. Plus, the guy has a HORRENDOUS temper. He will implode. That bizarre scene where he dropped the F-bomb on Cornyn, was a perfect example.
