Hammer the employers who knowingly hire illegals and the demand will dry up.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Until last year, I was an employer.

Somehow, I suspect that “hammering” employers who “knowingly” hire illegals will mean that those who don’t hire them “knowingly” will get hammered accidentally. It will also mean a lot more paperwork, time, expense, and vigilance on the part of law abiding employers.

If GOVERNMENT would do it job, then employer would not have to play UNPAID cop. Checking the identity of an employee should be no more complicated than a 2 minute phone call with an immediate response ( with a receipt from the government agency.)

I suggest the following:

1) Every traffic stop should include a check for immigration status. If that person is an illegal, they and their illegal family is deported within the week!

2) All hospitals accepting any government payments should check immigration status. Any illegals should be stabilized and deported as soon as their condition is not life threatening.

3) Government schools should report all children and families who do not have LEGAL residence.

4) All social services should check immigration status of all clients.

5) Any illegal should be finger printed and he and ALL of his family down to 3rd cousins should be forever forbidden from immigrating legally to this country.

6) Any illegal found voting should have a 30 year prison sentence. (Yes, corrupting our voting process IS that serious!)

Do this and the government should not have to “hammer” employers.

Does anyone else wonder if the ‘solution’ that Congress wants to illegal immigrants is a NATIONAL ID card - for everyone????

Interesting thought about your point #2: My mother’s cousin (yes, I know, she’s my cousin too, but of my parents’ generation) was a social worker in NYC and a New Deal Democrat from the word go.

When she died, I got most of her personal papers and some books. I found a case history of an Italian immigrant who contracted TB — I guess this was in the 1930’s. The City of New York social services sent him back to Italy.

Timing is everything, I guess. Nowadays the guy would hire a lawyer and we’d all pay for his care “till death do us part”....
