U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin on Sunday endorsed business executive Dan Seals over Jay Footlik in the Democratic primary race for the 10th Congressional District.
Speaking to more than 450 attendees at a 10th District Democratic convention held at the Hyatt Deerfield, Durbin backed Seals in his second attempt to unseat U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.).
"I think he's one of our strongest congressional candidates in the country, and he proved it last time," Durbin said. "He came very close, and I think he deserves another chance at it. I think he's battle-tested and I'm happy to support his candidacy."
Seals, of Wilmette, won 47 percent of the vote during his 2006 challenge to Kirk, of Highland Park, who is serving his fourth term. Democratic primary opponent Footlik is a Buffalo Grove resident who worked in the Clinton administration on domestic and foreign policy issues.

No surprise here. Seals ran a strong race in 2006.
Aaron Schrock is da man!
Dan Seals... why is that name familiar?
I think you are younger than me, even, and I even remember this LP (I was born in late '74!).
With a name like Jay Footlik, you better be good.
Seals is a lefty/liberal for sure. Agreed, that, by and large, this district votes fiscally conservative.
Also the name of a pretty good Country singer but not the same person.
