She was a Cutie...

Granted, I was a little bit too young for her. I think I was 8 or 9 when The Bob Newhart Show was on. Of course, now when I see any reruns, I'm older than her . . .

Best Series Finale ever ... especially since they leaked two other “surprise” endings about Daryl and Daryl and about Bob getting “killed” in the end.

The first time I saw her was in an old Steve McQueen western, Nevada Smith.

Thanks. Going onto my rental list . . .

You are right, and I wish more people would listen. I'm under treatment for lung cancer for the second time, and am fortunate that it has not metastasized. I smoked for 35 years, and quit with my first diagnosis in 1998. My husband quit then, too.

Believe it or not, my daughter and son-in-law are still smoking and his mom died of lung cancer and my daughter is an RN on an oncology unit.

As Yul Brynner said before he died of lung cancer, "Don't ever smoke, and if you smoke, quit." I can't agree with him more.

My brother quit smoking just before midnight of his 25th birthday. He saved enough money by not buying cigarettes to buy a car. I’m sure now with the increased taxation plus litigation money, one could afford to buy an even better car by quitting smoking.

Indeed. It's so expensive that my brother has had to start rolling his own.

It's his vice. Maybe he'll try again, but he's been sober for over a dozen years now, and the last time he made a serious effort to stop smoking, he made it quite a while before the thought crossed his mind, "You know, I could really use a beer right now." He put on his jacket, went outside and lit one up.

One thing at a time. Hopefully, he'll try again.

Didn't know she was in that

Yes, Suzanne was a feature of the early years of TV, incl. the first season of Route 66. Her ep is on the first disc of that DVD collection. She plays a revival singer in a gospel tent who is later unmasked as an abused woman who killed her boyfriend.

At the library on Friday I checked out a DVD of the first season of the Bob Newhart Show. A strange coincidence.

It's hard for me to watch those old shows, knowing that the stars have passed on. For instance, "Rawhide" with the actor who played the trail boss, Gil Favor, who got top billing over Clint Eastwood. And old eps of "Combat", knowing that Rick Jason committed suicide in old age after coming home from a Combat fan convention.

Thanks for the info. I found the episode guide description from Nov 1960 - her character was named Lotti Montana.

I’m still trying to “re-find” which episode was filmed in and around my childhood hometown later in the series. They didn’t shoot that many actually on Rte66, but this one was either supposed to be in Tulsa, or they didn’t actually say where they were - but it was really shot in the Tulsa vicinity (which was on Rte66).

While I didn’t go see the shoot, lots of friends and neighbors did. And of course, I watched all the episodes at the time, including that one - but memory fails me on the plot details. I found it once when I first got online, but whatever notes I saved are on my older computers or one of many disks.

Can’t wait to get my hands on those DVD releases!

It has been nice to hear all the good things being said on TV about Suzanne - her funeral is tomorrow and I know there will probably be some laughter among the many tears, as she would’ve wanted it. The Hollywood Star ceremony is a week from Thursday, on what would’ve been her 71st birthday.

She was indeed the perfect companion to his deadpan humor. She’s given a lot of people some great entertainment, and will be missed by many.

She was terrific in an episode of Diagnosis Murder. She played a surgeon who turned out to be the killer.
