Rush isn’t joining satellite any time soon, although Beck is already there. Let’s be honest— if he were to join he’d have to have the whole Howard Stern treatment, exclusivity, private channel, etc. They couldn’t just plop him on a talk channel and expect him to sell. The problem is that Rush doesn’t want to shrink his audience via a subscription only system. “24/7” is enough for him.
Although an all-Rush channel on XM (XM has an exclusive deal with Rush’s syndicator) would be neat... Rush live plus an exclusive “fourth hour,” followed by simulcasts of the people who guest host for him like Jason Lewis and Mark Belling, and replays of the show on the overnights. Something to chew on...
Rush’s problem has never been the FCC, it’s been political pressures which will stay around however he does his show, and he has little to gain by jumping to satellite.
As for Boortz, I don’t know if Cox Radio (Boortz’s syndicator) has the capability to put the show up there.
Good points.
