Independent Conservative Candidacy?

If the "true conservatives" fail to ignite anything but token support, an "Independent Conservative Candidacy" does nothing more than ensure a Clinton presidency.

And I've heard ALL the rationalizations about "principle" RINOs and Republicrats, etc.

The simple fact is that a third party run is doomed to failure, a la Ross Perot.

I, personally, will vote for Romney or, G-d Forbid, McCain or Schmuckabee, should Thompson drop out of the race, because I will do whatever I can to defeat Her Thighness.

This tripe about a third party is the same "teach them a lesson" attitude that gave us a Democrat congress in 2006.

As a conservative, I cannot bring myself to vote for either of two Democrats, a Democrat (D) or a Republican (D) in the General Election in November. Our future is too important. I did that last time.

I got 12 million illegals as a reward for that loyalty. Sorry, no can do. I have heard all the counter arguments.

I have to disappoint you, but FR, which you are on, is an Independent Conservative Forum. It is not a Republican Party forum.

I mentioned my support of a possible Independent Conservative in the General.

You stated we should vote for a Republican, no matter what, even if he is not conservative, but is a Ripon Society-type or a RINO.

My thinking is much more in line with the statement, and charter, of FREE REPUBLIC.

But there ARE plenty ofREPUBLICAN PARTY blogs and sites out there, if you are interested. I would be happy to suggest them.

I agree with you, but draw a line with John McCain.

McCain has a long history of collaborating with the liberal elements in the Democrat party, going back beyond McCain-Feingold. He doesn’t believe in the first or Second Amendment and is to the left of George Bush. He is old and repulsive and hasn’t a chance in hell of getting elected if he is nominated.

His daughter recently stated Osama Bin Laden is “cute”. Wonder what she would have thought of Hitler? Judging by her face, I guess anyone would look “cute” to her. Apparently reality problems and loss of perspective run in her genes.

I’d support ANY Republican now - except John McCain - he is no Republican.
