Blair accused of 'stabbing Hillary Clinton in the back' after supporting Republicans

Clinton and Blair

Former allies: Bill Clinton and Tony Blair

Tony Blair was accused of betrayal last night as he waded into the American Presidential campaign to support George Bush's Republican world view.

As the former PM recommended Mr Bush's policies to 400 millionaire bankers in Las Vegas, former ally Bill Clinton was campaigning in Nevada for his wife Hillary, who hopes to be the Democratic candidate for the White House and is an arch Bush critic.

In a move liable to be interpreted as a stab in the back for Hillary's campaign, Mr Blair – who was paid £125,000 for his 35-minute speech – said: "George Bush is an amazingly strong and steady President...which is what America and the world needs."

Last night Labour backbencher Jeremy Corbyn said: "A week ago Mr Blair travelled to France to praise the Right-wing President of France and this week he travels to the USA to support the Republicans.

"Is there no end to the extremes he will go to?"

Mr Blair's office denied that his comments were an attack on Mrs Clinton.

Hopefully Mr. Corbyn has a good supply of Kleenex on hand to dry his tears :-)

Hopefully Mr. Blair has good and loyal bodyguards.

My gift to Tony:

I'm guessing that Mr. Blair may have a schedule which precludes a personal reply, and so please allow me to thank you for your gracious gift   :-)

Hopefully he will use it regularly.

Mr Blair's office denied that his comments were an attack on Mrs Clinton.

To paraphrase Churchill, "Should the Democrats offer £125,000 for a 35-minute speech, I would at least find occasion, in the Sands Hotel, to make a favorable reference to Clintonomics."

If you have any video or transcript of Blair’s speech in Vegas, please let me know at my site ...

http://keeptonyblairforpm.wordpress.com

... or here at this site. I want to counteract the rubbish that passes for journalism in the rag The Daily Mail. It’s a Conservative paper and yet is gleefully quoting an Old Leftie unreconstructed Labourite just because he’s moaning, as always, about Blair. They’re all idiots. None of them deserve to be in the same country as Tony Blair.

If all that Mr Blair said was the sentence quoted - what’s wrong with THAT? He didn’t say the Republican party was strong! Just Bush. These people make me sick. They’ve helped destroy Blair’s first career, and now they’re working on his second. They won’t succeed. He leaves them all gasping.

Well, how do we know he didn't refer to Clinton in favorable terms? As I said in an earlier reply, I'd just like to get a fuller report of what Tony Blair DID actually say.

There's far too much misinterpretation attached to this man from his detractors.

And now, he does not release his transcripts because he is not required to, as a private individual. But scant, misleading reports like the above perpetuate the myths.

I think he's given up on the liars.

Perhaps we should too.

I warned my countrymen that they'd have to pay for the stuff he used to tell us free.

Still, they wouldn't listen then. Why are some of them eavesdropping now?

I miss him tremendously. We seem to have no real leadership here in the UK today.
