I was told by someone in the “know” that most of our heavy equipment will not come back to the states.

WE might want to tranfer these Humvees back here to transport all these sub prime home buyers out of their homes after foreclosures by the millions. I’m getting to where I don’t give a rip about Iraq.

M1114s are not heavy equipment. They are uparmored modern Jeeps.

The M1114s were the interim version that does not fit with the US Army’s lift pacage for air transportability. Those versions are the M1151/1152 series that include removable armor. The Army was going to get rid of these used M1114s one way or another anyway.

The heavy equipment most likely to be outright donated are the old M113s APCs that the Army wants to replace.

Most of Iraq’s heavy equipment is being bought by Iraq thru US FMS. They are appropriating 9 billion (of 40 billion budget) to their own ISF development. The US is contributing all of 3 billion. Mostly for the trucks that we agreed on for the original 10 Iraqi Divisions that we had not delivered yet...

Why should it? Our politic ans never want that stuff around because they know eventually we will have to use it on them!
