Leading Democrats To Bill Clinton: Pipe Down By Jonathan Alter NEWSWEEK Updated: 1:43 PM ET Jan 19, 2008
Prominent Democrats are upset with the aggressive role that Bill Clinton is playing in the 2008 campaign, a role they believe is inappropriate for a former president and the titular head of the Democratic Party. In recent weeks, Sen. Edward Kennedy and Rep. Rahm Emanuel, both currently neutral in the Democratic contest, have told their old friend heatedly on the phone that he needs to change his tone and stop attacking Sen. Barack Obama, according to two sources familiar with the conversations who asked for anonymity because of their sensitive nature. Clinton, Kennedy and Emanuel all declined to comment.
On balance, aides to both Bill and Hillary still see Bill as a huge net plus in fund-raising, attracting large crowds and providing a megaphone to raise doubts about Obamaeven if some of those doubts are distortions. But there's concern that in hatcheting the Illinois senator and losing his temper with the news media (last week he thrashed a San Francisco TV reporter for asking about a lawsuit filed by Clinton-backing teachers union members to limit the number of Nevada caucuses), Clinton is drawing down his political capital and harming his role as a global statesman. "This is excruciating," says a member of the Clintons' circle, who asked for anonymity. "But the stakes couldn't be higher. It's worth it to tarnish himself a bit now to win the presidency."
During a December taping with PBS's Charlie Rose, a frustrated Clinton called Obama "a roll of the dice," as aides tried to end the interview.

billdo does not want to be dethroned as the first black president.
One might think.
But at the first snarky question from a reporter purposely goading BJ into an angry outburst for the sake of a better story, BJ will revert to what he has always been. A thin-skinned, hot headed jerk.
It matters not what the reporter's politics are. A good story always trumps.
They created this monster and have allowed the Clintons to run amok with power...they now have to deal with the consequences.
He can’t help it. It’s in his nature to crave attention any way he can get it.
He won’t go away until they take him away in a pine box.
The Clintons are self-destructing.
Together they are destroying the Clinton legacy.
This is the best thing ever.
Their proper place in the history books as the racists they are will finally be written.
More index finger, more index finger!!!
Heard she’s already booked the Pequod with crew.
Kennedy is seen as an extremist amongst the "centrists" and "moderates". His disapproval is a plus for Hillary.
It is classic Clinton triangulation, they have made a career out of this.
LMAO I love it.
I doubt she would want him as VP. Lockbox or not she doesn't want him near the White House.
I believe she picked him to run against her, knowing she had the goods on him to insure his defeat.
Every dirty rotten thing that could possibly be said about hitlery already has been said.
Hussein on the other hand still has untold stories, which BillyBoy(X42i) is about to cash in.
But if he fails to get the hag nominated and gives all that ammo to the pubbie candidate, the screaming and flying ashtrays will be the least of their problems.
Congratulations!
I believe you just passed your Clinton 401 final.
2000-Florida argument all over again. LMFAO!
OBAMARAMADINGDONG STOLE THE ELECTION! /falls over LOL
“The media wouldnt exist without its listeners/watchers and if we stopped buying the garbage they sell, politically or otherwise, theyd either be out of business or would have to give up manipulating and start reporting.
“
At the micro-level, I agree totally.
At the macro-level, I think you are at least partially wrong.
US population 300 million, assume (argument) 100M regular consumers of print and TV media. I made this number up.
1) To alienate any large % of their customers, print and TV media have to change their message quickly. Slowly-changed messages might be subject to the ‘boiled frog rule’.
2) In dealing with such large human markets, assume a certain amount of entropy (e.g. a certain number of households WILL turn tv on each night at prime time and WILL tune to xyz network, regardless of what they say on that network). Meaning if XYZ has a 15% market share of 100M regular viewers, even a 10% loss of mkt is only 1.5M viewers and XYZ will continue to receive ad. revenue.
3) Any large changes in viewer behavior are likely to be played out over years, not days or months. This means that, say, the penalty for CBS trying to unseat the sitting president in 2004 with fradulent documents is only going to be visible in retrospect 10 or 20 years from now, assuming there is a penalty.
4) The media really are so big as to be immune. Viacom (CBS owner) airs fradulent documents with the presumed intent of electing John Kerry in 2004, less than 3 months before a national election. What are the actual consequences, aside from a few firings, for the parent company?
The internet moonbats who have hated Bush and those “Corrupt” Republicans with every fiber of thier being for so many years are JUST NOW starting to realize how corrupt and UNDEMOCRATIC the DEMOCRATIC PARTY process really is.
It’s beginning to dawn on the droolers that they really will have NO INPUT into who the nominee will be.
This thread on DailyKos pretty much says it all:
Jill Derby, Chair of the Nevada State Party, also spoke out on delegates as the results came in. She emphasized that national delegate counts are “based upon an assumption that delegate preferences will remain the same,” when in fact they could change at the convention. Derby added a disconcerting line to hammer the point home: “We look forward to our county and state conventions where we will choose the delegates for the nominee that Nevadans support.”
Translation: If this thing is close, “we” party insiders will “choose” for the rest of the state.”

Whomever the REPUB nominee may be, they should "not" go offensive
on the RATS due to the infighting that almost certainly will erupt
within the ranks of their "chosen process".
Let loose the dogs of WAR Liberals! Let them eat their own!
This will certainly be one election year to remember.
I truly enjoy living through history in the making.
/Salute & GOD BLESS
I'll bet my butt crack is bigger than your cleavage!
Now I'm in trouble, for sure...
you go Billy Boy! never give up! never surrender! It’s funny watching the Party of Tolerance eat it’s own. lmao
THAT's an angle I hadn't thought of! Hmmmmm...
Did someone say “titular”?
