Good for Fred! He shouldn’t stop now, we need him more then ever, and America needs him. He is our only hope and an awesome man at that.
Lots of prayers he stays in. (End Quote)

Thompson addressed a ballroom in a college student union, an event that featured as many students enjoying free beer as it did hardcore Thompson supporters.
Prayers or beer???

always remember.. A conservative bases his politics on his principles.. a liberal bases his principals on his politics... In Reagan's case...most of his compromises were about $$$$...Dollars!..Not principles..(Dollars are the life's blood of a liberal...someones else's dollars..)..Reagan understood that!
And so does Thompson. It's disturbing how many so-called "conservatives" don't.

If he stays in he helps McCain by taking votes from Huck and Romney. What surprise. So, in essence, all the Fredheads have been doing is a master stroke plan to elect their true hero, John McCain? It-just-might-work!

the values voters who were going to Fred switched allegiances to Huckabee. What values do they have? stupidity?
Stupidity? That would describe what Fred Thompson did when he crapped on Dr. James Dobson. He blew it right there with the "value voters"(I hate that term)

I am sooooo friggen angry, I can hardly speak!!!
I did EVERYTHING I thought was right.
Listen, I am a single mom, I have NO alimony, NO child support and I REFUSE all government aid. I do NOT have a college degree and work in restaurants to pay my bills.
I SHOULD be a flaming liberal. But I am NOT! I am super CONSERVATIVE!
I joined FRIENDS of Thompson. I gave my paltry little money to Thompson. I shouted from the rafters for Thompson.
I have heard all the.... JUST WAIT... stuff. Thompson is waiting for {insert place here to make the difference). And (insert important organization here) will endorse him to make the difference.
Well, I don't know what to do now.
Will SOMEone... ANYone... give me some info to make me hold out hope?
I will NOT vote for Huckelbee. I will NOT vote for McCain.
What in the world am I supposed to think/do now?

“A McCain/Thompson candidacy would be more reminiscent of a trip to the local Senior Center than an inspiring vision of hope for America to our American Idol public.”
On that we agree. But Attorney General, or some such similar offer (like a Cabinet position, etc.) could be in the offering. McCain would take care of Fred, his friend, in some fashion.

As a mostly lurker, I’ve been watching these threads and the returns with interest, before venturing an observation or two about the days’ events. I have seen the lies that Huckabee has thrown out (Theology degree, taxes, illegal immigrants, etc.), and think what he and his camp are saying about Fred is a travesty. Of all those running, I don’t like Rudy (gun grabber), McCainiac (CFR, Illegals), Mitt (flipflop on lots of stuff), or Ron Paul (Loony), but I COULD vote for any of them against Huckabee. The one thing I crave most now is the chance to cast my vote in Missouri’s primary for FDT. I hope and pray he will hold in there till the convention, at least to influence the direction of the the GOP, and to better his chances for unifying the party behind him, because I don’t think anyone else can. Here’s a quote I picked up reading quite a while back, from a Democrat (who had his baggage, but nonetheless would probably be thought as mostly conservative today): “A liar in public life is a lot more dangerous than a full paid-up Communist, and I don’t care who he is.” — Harry S. Truman
He had some rough times during an election or two, too, but did OK at the end. So, please, Karen, keep the faith, and PLEASE, Fred, hang in there......we need you!

What in the world am I supposed to think/do now? First of all, way to go!! You definitely should not be a liberal! You epitomize what it means to be a conservative. You are independent and self sustaining. You damn well should be proud of yourself! I am!
As far as the elections go, for me, this one is a wash. There is no way to come out a winner, no matter what happens. All I can do is wait until next year(2012) Although I want to see a capable conservative be elected for the sake of the country, my life or happiness doesn't depend on who wins elections. I determine that on my own, as you seem to do quite well.
As far as this election goes, I will be writing in Hunter for president. If for no other reason, a protest vote. You could do the same thing(vote for your candidate) IF the eventual candidate is someone you cannot bring yourself to vote for. This will be a first for me. I have always voted straight party line in the hopes that things would get better. But, unfortunately, the party keeps sliding leftward. This is the election where I say, NO MORE!!

I'm with you. Fred is my last hope for conservatism, and there is still a spark there. Keep fanning it!

"the party keeps sliding leftward. This is the election where I say, NO MORE!!" =============================
If the party doesn't represent me they are not getting my vote either. They will lose and they did it to themselves. The sun seems to be setting on conservatism.

Mitt/Fred You for Mitt Romney? You might as well ask for a second term for Poppy Bush. They're cut from the same cloth. Say goodbye to the Second Amendment, while you're at it.
They're pushing conservatives to the back of the bus, don't you get it? You'll wind up being their shine boy.

Face facts about Fred? Hes the best candidate the GOP has has had in 25 years and liberal mouthbreathers are voting for the Four Horsemen. You and a lot of people claim that Fred is like Reagan but he is not. Other than looking like and sounding like Reagan. For example, Reagan didn't just wake up one day from his acting career and decide he wanted to be president. Reagan worked for years building a base and an organization, lining up contributers and refining his message. Fred didn't do any of those things. He seemed to think if he said the right things and made the right kind of speech everything would just fall in place for him. None of the other campaigns made that mistake. Huck, Mitt, Rudy and even Ron Paul have been working hard doing the work out of the public view for years. Fred is a nice fellow from what I can see, but I want a president that looks at a problem, brakes it down to its components and does them one by one. Mitt seems like that sort of person. I think he will be the president.
