It is a rebate. It's a one-off, one-shot deal. And it will be taxed. It's a pathetic, weak-kneed idea conjured up by politicians to appear sympathetic to those who can't figure out that it's a gimmick.

To stimulate the economy, cut taxes, spending, and fire 90% of the jerks in DC.

LOL, I'll have to watch it so I don't get hit with a penalty for under withholding. I manage my taxes so I pay when taxes are due..

The last check I received was for real loot. It had nothing to do with returns or advanced returns since I wasn't due anything. Making sure you REPORT the income from that government check maybe another matter.
