Rush was actually ambivalent on the ports deal.

No he wasn't. He was for it and spoke about it quite often until it was scrapped

He was generally for it, as not posing an increased security threat, but said it was a political loser on day one and didn’t stump for it. He did not strongly advocate for it.

Yes he was and yes he did!

I remember it quite explicitly because he ran counter to everything Mark was saying about it. The two of them being on opposite sides really confused me for awhile.
