Those were all changes to the original Constitution. My point was that the Constitution was a document, the Constitution is a living, breathing document written in order that it could be changed. My point was that the scriptures were not written so that we may change them, to adapt them, to ever changing cultural norms.
I think you gotta call it spin when a person clips one sentence out of an interview and then says that sentence represents the whole context. People do that with the bible a lot too. So it’s nothing new.
Is this a new political strategery? Huck mouthing democratitudes and obama praising Reagan.
He’s consistently said it is living breathing document. Meant to change as necessary. And the way it changes is by ammendment. I tend to agree with that.
I think it was Huckspin. Libs like the fact that with judge shopping you can get 2 pair to beat 3 of a kind most days of the week.
No one is a larger supporter of judicial restraint than I am. If it were up to me we’d have a number of ammendments proposed right now to coral the judicial branch.
It is definitely an attempt to get a variety of people to support him. That is what it takes to win a national election.
Yes, I’m not sure we have an amendment policy for the Scriptures, but we have for the Constitution. One was inspired by God, the other by liberty.
The Constitution cannot “breath” on it’s own. Every word has a purpose that is set in stone and not open to “interpretation” as well as configured for the sign of the times.
If Huckabee fizzles, his followers will be looking for another prolife evangelical to fill the void. Hunter fits that bill, no one else in the race is evangelical.
The GOP doesnt get it. They need to let this faction find a home. The amount of invective aimed at evangelicals is surprising, but then everyone wants their votes.
Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and hes got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.
Prolife evangelicals will be very comfortable in Hunters camp, since hes a prolife evangelical staunch conservative.
Huckster also went on to say that the Constitution needs to be amended to reflect God’s will.
This man is an intolerant theocrat and has no business ever being seriously considered for dog-catcher, let alone president.
I have yet to see a piece of paper reguardles of the Ideas expressed there in breath.
I don't think that God ever intended women to intentionally kill their babies in their own womb. I think it makes sense to ammend the constitution to ban abortion.
I'm perfectly comfortable voting for the guy that backs these ammendments.
Just another reason this guy should go back to Hope.
“Huckster also went on to say that the Constitution needs to be amended to reflect Gods will.”
And guess who the interprator of the lord will, will be!
Danger!! Danger!!! Will Robinson!!!!!
The Constitution is indeed on life support, but it's the amendment process that is dead.
The last even vaguely controversial amendment to pass was the 24th in 1964 prohibiting a poll tax. AAMOF, I think you could make a claim that the last "real" amendment was the 21st in 1933, which repealed the 18th and Prohibition.
There have been other amendments than these, but all involved uncontroversial, essentially procedural issues and were accepted more or less by consensus.
The last unsuccessful amendment was the ERA in the early 70's.
About that time those who want to change everything found it was much easier to bypass the amendment process entirely via "judicial amendment," changing society's rules at their whim without allowing the other side any voice at all in the process.
Danger!! Danger!!! Will Robinson!!!!!
This is largely why I now think anyone who says he knows the mind of God is largely a nutjob. And no, faith is NOT knowing; faith is believing.
And whose will do you think the constitution should reflect?
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
