We say that now... We can hope that McCain isn’t the nominee. But if he is, conservatives will have to decide whether they’re willing to take his 68% ACU rating, or if that 32% is awful enough for them to sit the election out or vote 3rd party. Let’s be clear on this - the man many posters here backed, Fred Thompson, was part and parcel of campaign finance reform. That leaves amnesty as John McCain’s weak point, and I believe his military background would offset this in a general versus even more amnesty oriented candidates such as Hillary and Obama.
I find it hard to believe too many conservatives are going to chose pro-amnesty McCain over a candidate like Romney who has a much more conservative platform across the board, AND has good economic credentials.
