If he wins, your guy will need all the votes in the general election he can get. So why not make the smart play, do your small part, and not drive away those of us who might have to hold our noses & vote for him with sophomoric gloating?
I agree. There is nothing GOOD about Thompson losing, and certainly nothing to “gloat about”. Thompson is a good conservative, and gave himself to us as a candidate for the highest office in the land. He deserves respect, not ridicule.
And while I can understand the desire to “get back” at people here, that is counterproductive to the task of putting together a conservative coalition, first to stop Rudy and McCain, and second to win the general election, and to get other conservative elected.
We won’t get votes for conservative candidates for house and senate if we have a person at the top of the ticket who is running against our platform and our policies. We need a candidate who will be talking about conservative principles. And that candidate needs all of our support, because if we stay home, our conservatives in elections for other offices will suffer.
And we won’t come together if everybody is getting people back for mistreatments real or perceived.
