“I’m guessing most of the FR posters will start supporting Romney.”

You would guess wrong. Not a possibility.

"McCain is the reason I am rescinding my Republican Party membership and aligning myself with the Conservative party."

I did one better than you. I got off the voter rolls after voting for Schwartzeneggar. They can take me to jury duty in a straight jacket now (not one notice since).

If McCain or the Huckster get's nominated, I will be too busy to re-register. Other offices don't matter where I live.

I heard Rush. Good job to him and you. You know I only get work done during his commercials if I am on the radar range?:) I need a loud radio on the positioner to be more productive up there. HEH! I trained my company and not the other way around. LOL! 6 radios in different locations to babysit me or another guy:) Great job in microwave until a system breaks or a product fails. Then thinking starts.

I am very disapointed and disgusted with what Republicans have done with their votes so far. From their favored candidates, it appears that they have bought into the belief that big federal government programs are the ticket to solving their problems and that power should be used to impose their religious tenets upon others.

Conservativism is about principles, such as limited government and federalism, and values such as open and free speech, religious freedom, personal responsibility and protecting individual rights from opression that are consistently and evenly applied to issues. One who does not have these rock solid core values twists in the wind as is expedient to the moment and promises a chicken in every pot or a crusade against those with different religious values.

I disagree, I believe we half choose our president, the MSM does the other half.

I am still in disbelief that Laura Ingraham actually said Fred Thompsons name today, first time I heard her say it, she says Huckabee about every three seconds and Romney about every 30. I havent even heard Rush Limbaugh say the name Fred Thompson

Here’s one better: Republicans Can Unify Behind Thompson. We need to take some responsibility, folks.

Excellent point.

Very well said and worth a BTTT.

It is now dawning on the GOP, or conservatives within the GOP, that we’ve had no conservative leadership...in years.

Thats all well and good. I agree totally that most of todays Republicans have strayed from conservative principles but everyone says they won’t vote for any of them because of it but no one suggests an alternative. We should have a massive movement towards a 3rd truly conservative party but there is none so its either vote for a RINO or let the dems have it.

I think there is a genuine bond of friendship between Fred and McCain. I think Fred has alot of compassion for McCain because of his being a POW and his battle with cancer. I noticed they never go after each other. Its like there is an unspoken agreement between them.

I havent even heard Rush Limbaugh say the name Fred Thompson

I have noticed that, too, although I have always had the feeling that Rush supports Thompson. I just don't understand why Rush doesn't come right out and endorse him. I think he could have really done Fred some good. Unless he is afraid the MSM will go after Fred because they hate Rush so much.

Should Fred eventually not gain the nomination, the question will have to be asked whether an endorsement from Rush might have done him some good. And if, in with-holding that endorsement, he might have had a direct hand in a RINO getting the nomination. We shall see.

Rush has mentioned Fred, though most of us would have liked for him to do far more to help counteract the damage the MSM has done to Fred’s candidacy. Still, Rush has made it quite clear he considers Fred the conservative among the front runners and has offered praise for his positions.

This is audio from today.

You have a valid point there, the conservative talk radio folks all have their own horse in the race. Surprisingly, for many it is Giuliani. Then they try to decide who can best stop the one they don’t like. Rush Limbaugh hates to be “wrong” and he doesn’t want to alienate the eventual winner. I can’t possibly see it as a profile in courage that Rush never supported Thompson.

But that’s politics, and I think republican voters know Fred is the most conservative, they even like him. But for their own reasons, so far he isn’t getting enough of their votes.

In this regard I am not a Separatist; I am for an GOP/RNC Reformation. The Third Party notion has had many fans, and there are numerous other parties attempting to make a go of it. None of them will ever see the inside of the Oval Office unless one of the two dominant parties suffers a near complete collapse.

You lament that nobody's suggesting an alternative. Well, here's an alternative: Fred Thompson.

Nobody has to leave the Republican party to vote for Fred.

Nobody has to compromise their Conservative principles to vote for Fred.

Nobody has to worry that today's Fred Thompson might not be tommorow's Fred Thompson, because -- unlike all of the other GOP hopefuls -- Fred Thompson has a track record on the issues that doesn't look like San Francisco's famous Lombard Street.

The bottom line, here, is this: self-proclaimed "Conservatives" need to either walk their talk and get behind the REAL Conservative candidate, Fred Thompson, or quit all their fraudulent genuflections to Conservatism. Whatever people are, they need to BE THAT. And if it turns out that they aren't Conservative, they ought not say that they are. The hour is late, the times are perilous, the issues are dire, and pretenders to Conservatism could too easily be the death of us all.

Political death to the pretenders. They must be rejected, and shunned.
