One in two believes racism is increasing

Record numbers of people believe racial prejudice is worsening, according to Government figures.

However, the study of views of 15,000 people in England and Wales found that more than eight out of 10 people feel a strong sense of belonging to Britain, despite evidence of growing nationalism.

For the first time, more than half of people surveyed in the Citizenship and Communities survey said racism had become more of a problem in the previous five years.

In the poll conducted from April to September last year, 56 per cent said racial prejudice had deteriorated. The figure was just 43 per cent in 2001 and 48 per cent in 2005.

White people had the worst outlook on racial prejudice, with 58 per cent saying it had worsened.

In comparison, just under a third (32 per cent) of ethnic minorities felt it was more prevalent.

They are undoubtedly correct. This is evidenced by increasing racial hate crimes such as blowing up the tube.

Maybe it is because ALL people are predjudiced. It is a natural element to survival.

But somehow the Western Culture's definition of predjudiced has come to mean "white bigot">

Black people are extremely predjudiced, so are hispanics, chinese etc.

the problem comes when the dominant culture in power opresses the weaker less powerful culture.

Perhaps this poll fails to mention that whites may be feeling predjudice from other races, now that we have allowed ourselves to become more "tolerant", and forced into imposed "diversity".

I have news for you: this will happen in any and every multi-cultural society.

Man is a visual creature who relates best to those most similar to him. Denying this fact will only lead to conflict.

Geez I wonder why? We divide everyone into an identity group claim rights and grievances based on that identity, contrive laws that forbid one to criticize that group, treat people differently based on their group affiliation and call it equality. And ya wonder why do ya.

>>>Maybe it is because ALL people are predjudiced. It is a natural element to survival.<<<

I’ve always thought it was tribal’. I spoke with a latino recently here in Hollywood why production crews are ALL whites . I got sick and tired of saying it was racism (of which it is) BUT I said, if they were all Latino...would they allow a white person to break the majority for the sake of multi culturalism?

here’s an example: if anyone here has a DVD of PAN’S LABYRINTH (del Toro’s movie other than Hellboy) go look at the credits: EVERYONE on the poster/DVD is of Spanish descent except for Doug Jones, who co stars in it.

That’s just the way it is.

Exactamundo! Gracias on making my point.

Racism goes both ways, unless you’re a Democrat who always blames whitey.
