Yes, I agree they are mixed, though many of the ones from Southern Mexico are almost all of Indian descent. In any case, I am relating what these enviros are actually say and think.

My wife teaches part time at a local nature center. She is very environmentally conscious, but otherwise conservative. However, most of her coworkers are total moonbats. I have been to a few of their get togethers and find them simultaneously amusing and maddening. I have heard the “indigenous” argument being used several times to defend the right of illegals to migrate here.

I am convinced that many of these people want to return to 1491—as long as they get to keep THEIR houses, their 4WD SUVs....and maybe Starbucks & Wegmans. They want to be the country squires presiding over their grateful, idigenous serfs in a natural paradise. All the other white people can go back to Europe or die. Pretty sickening when you think about it.

Oh, I knew that ;) I've heard that argument before also.

And even if it was their land from thousands of years ago - look what they've done with the land they have now. Mexico is a cesspool. They want to conquer the U.S. southwest, but keep all the positives living in the U.S. has to offer. Pretty stupid. It would become a 3rd world cesspool in no time. Many parts of Southern California are already there!
