If life defies the laws of thermodynamic then we change the laws of thermodynamics to fit the evidence much like modern physics has adjusted Newton’s laws of motion.

Life doesn't *abolish* the laws of thermodynamics. The laws still apply to all the chemical and physical processes. There is no magic, yet there is room for adjustment even within the framework of physics and chemistry.

Perhaps there is an analogy to computers and the programs that on them. Every program obeys completely the hard rules of CPU and hardware system architecture, yet programmers continually change the programs.
