If this is accurate, the pilot did a stunning job.
There were high winds at Heathrow today too.

What kind of airplane? Was it an Airbus? Curious if it was fly by wire.....

The pilot did a great job.
Boeing, apparently did not.

I am not a conspiracy type guy and did not think of that immediately, but certainly it should be looked into.

777
Plane has a good record, probably a one off.
To: VanShuyten
EMP would have taken out other stuff in the area.....but I see by your tinfoil hat quip that you figured that.

The British Airways plane which crash landed at Heathrow apparently lost all power and avionics coming in to land. He may have lost engine power but I doubt the avionics quit. I'm pretty sure planes like the 777 have electronic everything including activation of control surfaces. There's no way to land a plane that cannot be controlled.

nope...still a lot of aircraft out there using hydraulics...
I do believe the 777 is fly by wire however.

I don’t believe for a minute it was EMP but small, tactical EMP units exist which are highly directional. Didn’t happen here, though.

An unnamed worker at Heathrow said the pilot . . . deserved "a medal as big as a frying pan". I think that is an interesting turn of phrase.
