Calling Suze Orman, State of the State speech put government first.

What can Arizona lawmakers learn from guru of personal finance Suze Orman? Plenty. Orman's mantra is "people first, then money, then things," which is pretty much the opposite of what we heard on Monday in the Governor's annual State of the State address.
Governor Janet Napolitano proposed 12 new government programs and initiatives for the state, in addition to the expansion of several existing programs. These proposed new and expanded programs are offered at a time when Arizona faces a $1.25 billion structural deficit.
The new programs proposed range from providing free community college tuition to every child in Arizona who makes at least a B average in high school to expanding the state's health care program for "children" up to the age of 25.
While "things" were covered extensively, the Governor didn't make much mention of "money." She offered no details on how the state will pay for the new programs and only mentioned one cost saving measure to address the current budget deficit. The Governor also offered no plan for rejuvenating Arizona's lagging economy.
The "people" also got the short shrift. Not one proposal was made to make it easier for the people of Arizona to provide for themselves.
Over the coming days the Goldwater Institute will provide analysis on the proposed new programs and their potential costs to taxpayers. We will also provide recommendations that respect the freedom of the people of this state first, then address the state's money troubles, then propose things the government can do to make our lives better. The people first, then money, then things.

True, but I enjoy the way she is so enthusiastic with just about everyone. I think she means well.
Why? There’s always someone who hasn’t learned that lesson.
She would also have one forego travel and simply save for retirement.

I agree with you and she would have a field day with me and my traveling. I believe she might have been poor when she was younger and the family didn’t have money and she might be one of those that hordes money because she is afraid that she could be without someday. I know quite of few people like that. The problem is the fear and fear and fear it, but never get a chance to enjoy life but they have this huge bank account. No thanks! As long as I never go without food and realistic things I want to do I will be fine. For example, my family of five would never live in a house that would cause me to stay up nights worrying if I can continue the payments, same with a car, things, etc. I just can’t see how people can live like that. Now I do understand that stuff happens and unfortunately things happen, but I will ensure that those things were out of my control.

From what I have seen of her show, she doesn’t seem to be adverse to debt as Dave Ramsey. Personally, I prefer Dave’s take on things, but then I get a ton more exposure to him than I do to Suze.

Yep real easy advice when you don't have to worry about spending money on frivilous things, like, uhh, children.
