Emilio Estevez (Obama) ends up with girl geek Ally Sheedy and Molly Ringwald (Hillary) ends up with thug Judd Nelson.
I guess that leaves Anthony Michael Hall as Edwards.
Probably the best John Hughes character in this race is Dennis Kucinich as Jon "Ducky" Cryer.
Except in this case he really did get the girl.
Some of the duller candidates could play the teachers and principals in the Hughes films.
Come to think of it, what about Ron Paul as Ben Stein's charater in Buehler:
They share a passion for talking about tariffs, though I think Stein probably knows more about economics than Paul does.
If Obama really is the high school basketball star (would the writer actually say that if he were White?) maybe O., a high school retelling of Othello, is the movie of this campaign.
It's not a John Hughes flick, and if Hillary is Iago it would certainly complicate things.
