Honor killing is not an explicitly Muslim practice - there have been many cases of Palestinian and Lebanese Christian men doing the same thing, for example. It's actually an Arab tribal custom: the father owns the family and can dispose of any member as he pleases if his fear of losing status outweighs his sense of mercy. Islamic leaders tend to be silent about honor killing, which is bad enough, but it isn't something the Koran specifically orders its adherents to do. It's just fear-based tribal behavior.
