Interesting about Siljander that he was criticized as being “too Conservative” for his heavily GOP district. He won it in the 1981 special when he succeeded the flaky RINO Dave Stockman (who last I heard was indicted last year on a variety of charges). At one point, Siljander was accused of being anti-Semitic because of his support for a particular Christian Conservative candidate. When he was defeated for a 4th term in 1986 by Fred Upton in the primary, Barone dismissed him as one of the “wackiest and least effective congressmen on the right.”
I don’t know how Siljander became infatuated with Mohammadanism, but it’s hard to believe he’d be so psychotically stupid to knowingly get involved with laundering money for terrorists.
Speaking of Fred Upton, I’d kind of like to see him ousted in the Republican primary. State Representative Jack Hoogendyk, described by one article as “the most conservative member of the legislature,” has been thinking of challenging Carl Levin next year. One would think his chances would be just as good against Fred Upton.
