The news is announcing that the #1 issue for Americans right now is “the economy.”
It sickens me. We have troops in the field in the middle of a war, and America ignores them as it worries about “the economy.”
I imagine for any set of parents with a child in Iraq, that, even if they’d just lost their job, if you asked them what the most important issue in their family is, that they’d say, “Our child at war.”
I can’t imagine them not saying that.
Only because Iraq is now being viewed as a military victory, with casualties decreasing. I urge you not to take the issue switch too badly as it is good news for the troops; Dems have also been defeated in their efforts to undercut the troops. The Iraq talk is now that Iraq will retain an American presence similar to Korea. This means that AQ and Iraqi insurgents will lose hope and give up the fight. Our troops will thus be safer.
