As we speak, the Virginia General Assembly is in session. HSUS has hired a Richmond law firm to have FOUR lobbyists roaming the halls trying to stuff bills down the Legislators’ throats.

They want a statewide ban on tethering dogs, so only those rich enough to have a fence will be able to own a pet dog. They want information of who owns animals vaccinated for rabies, to be available to the general public.
They want “volunteer” (read that PETA plant) humane investigators with sweeping power.

Animal rights is NEVER about what is best for the animals, or for the owners who love them.

If you live in Virginia, please contact your representative to oppose:

HB 217 Tethering of animals; makes certain acts associated therewith Class 3 misdemeanor.
HB 538 Commercial dog breeding operations; definition, penalty.
HB 673 Animals; clarifies several standards of welfare.
HB 690 Companion animals; commercial breeding, penalty.
HB 691 Animal control officers; inspection of breeding facilities.

HB538, HB690 and HB691 are particularly pernicious HSUS bills.

This (Darnright’s post) is what the HSUS spends its money on. Paying for lobbiests and campaigns to eventually end hunting, fishing, wearing fur, eating meat, dog/cat breeding, the use of rats for medical research, and to put small farmers out of business, etc. This is the ultimate goal.

While paying outrageous salaries and perks to the board members/officers, they spend nothing on spay/neuter/feeding/housing programs for domestic animals, although most people who send them money thinks this is where it is going. A lot of freepers defend the HSUS, despite all the info out there about its agenda.

PETA is smalltime compared to the HSUS. Despite the HSUS’s efforts to portray the organization as an “animal welfare” group, the truth is coming out. They are an animal rights organization with very radical leadership.
