Yep. It is hardly surprising that it can be passed through gay (or straight, for that matter) sex - skin on skin is the usual vector. Gay sex, especially unprotected anal sex, carries with it a unique set of bacterial challenges but my guess is that promiscuity is more of an issue in this case.
And MRSA is very, very nasty once it gets started. If you can get it on the surface with alcohol you'll do OK; if it's in a place where alcohol can't reach you play the antibiotic roulette; if it's where antibiotics find it difficult to reach you've got a real problem.
Cleanliness, monogamy, and common sense are looking like awfully good advice. Radical, huh?
