1) Release them;
2) Put them into the Federal prison system;
3) Put them into the Military Prison system;
or
4) Release them to their countries. It is my understanding that most countries do not want them back.
I am not fond of (2). Is there a Military Prison in the Alaskan Tundra? If not maybe we should build one. Obviously, 1) should not be an option, but considering the namby-pamby politicians we have put into power it wouldn’t surprise me, if I saw one of Gitmo's released prisoners walking down Michigan Avenue.
We should keep it open. The issue of this thread is whether the Chairman of the JCS went off the reservation with his statement that we should close it as soon as possible. If you read the entire article and see the caveats Mullen makes about the problems of closing Gitmo, he really isn’t saying anything different than Bush and Gates have been saying. This is a MSM attempt to create the impression of controversy within the Aministration where none really exists.
