It seems to be what the Rooty Rooters are pushing for. As Jim Robinson has pointed out on this thread, Free Republic established its reputation as an effective grass-roots conservative movement by FReeping liberal politicians. There is no reason for us to give Rooty a pass because he is a RINO. And it would be extremely hypocritical to suggest that liberals shouldn't be allowed to protest conservative politicians.

Any politician who is running for statewide or national office and isn't thick-skinned enough to face a crowd of hecklers doesn't have what it takes to hold that office. If they are going to be flustered by some people holding signs and shouting slogans how are they ever going to go up against America's enemies?

I agree.

Ask President Bush who had to stand up to that very same thing this past week.

I'd say. It also speaks to the "elitism" effect of the RINO's and their supporters: "I must be treated better than equal"...like in Animal Farm.

The issue is not “protesting” but interrupting and disrupting a candidate from speaking. Quite different!

Who says Rudy was flustered? For all you know, the MSM is going to spin this as he was Steel for walking away from (their view) a bunch of “kooks” and holding his ground and refusing to give them a platform.

No one, at least not me, is saying give Rudy a pass on anything. I’m saying, please, if you think these protests are going to get played out for good in the larger media, you need to reevaluate.

The Rats will quickly raise millions for this and Rudy will actually get *good* publicity among independents and others.

And no one’s heart on abortion will be changed at all because of this.

It’s not a win situation.
