It’s hopeless, nobody seems to understand the proper use of pronouns any longer, double negatives are routinely used, the art of verbal communication is being lost. University graduates are prone to make errors that would have made a fifth grader cringe fifty years ago. It is amazing how often someone tells me something or asks me a question and I have to interrogate them to figure out what they are really trying to say. The same with the “journalists” now, I used to wonder if they had the correct information but now I just wonder if they even know what they are trying to say.

I was an administrative assistant at a well know liberal arts college for over 25 years. It was amazing how many times I had to correct grammar and spelling (and this was for the professors!). Before computers became popular, I typed student papers and believe me, they didn’t know diddly squat about grammar, spelling, punctuation, tenses, etc., etc. either. What a sham.
