To: Combat_Liberalism
Plenty can happen between now and 2010. Massachusetts has elected mostly GOP governors in modern times.

I recently read here an interesting perpective by a freeper who lives in Massachusetts and studies Massachusetts politics. He said that the reason most GOP governors were elected was because they were actually more liberal than their Democrat opponents.

I think the Globe endorsed Weld (R) in ‘90 while the Herald
may have endorsed Silber (D)...

I thought the prevailing school of thought was that MA elected Republicans to somewhat counter the corruption and stupidity of the legislature?

Look at what Dukakis & Solons did to help drive business out of MA. Sales taxes on services? I heard Fidelity moved out a good portion of the IT department in a very short timeframe (a good use of geographic diversity, but the impending Mass Miracle taxes sped up, and increased the size of the move).
