Kerry’s favorite retort was, “How dare you question my patriotism” as a response to any question about his positions or records.

I don’t know what to think. My biggest issue is illegal immigration other than that I don't ave much against McCain. We have three SCOTUS vacancies that will probably occur in the next three years and McCain looks like he is the only Republican who can win in a year where we have got to win. Romney, Thompson and Hunter have no traction. The last poll I saw says 62% of the public would vote against him. This is very depressing. I am about ready to support McCain and put him on notice that he will be a one term President if he stabs us in the back. I think all of the McCain bashing on this board is very helpful to that last end. At his age and health history he might very well be a less than 1 term President. We have 5 amnesty supporting scum in the GOP caucus that will believing and though two of them will likely be replaced by Dem’s the other three will lean to the better. If McCain is elected president the Dem Governor in Arizona will probably end up taking the seat in two years and she is very anti illegals. She will probably appoint a care taker who will be the same way. Then if Gramamnesty is defeated in South Carolina we that will also be to the better. This is a very bitter pill.

I guess in a way we blame our hero Reagan for this mess because of his anointing Bush ‘41 as his successor. A man of no principles no vision no ability to formulate a good policy or promote it. It directly lead to the election Clinton and then another 8 years by his son. I hate to blame the gipper but Vice Presidency’s do matter. This time out we need to make sure we get a good one. But unfortunately the list there is very slim too.

Re McCain. If it was just amnesty, I could forgive and take the position you have - he knows NOW not to do it.

The problem is he’s made a CAREER out of poking conservatives in the eye. I heard Rick Santorum the other day - and I’d forgotten this - that McCain voted against ANWR drilling and we lost that BY ONE VOTE. If not for McCain we could be getting oil from ANWR now.

Then there’s McCain Feingold. At least Fred has admitted it was a mistake....McCain’s PROUD of it.

Don’t forget his opposition to the Bush tax cuts. He’s rewriting history now by saying it’s because he wanted spending cuts. He was spouting the same class-warfare rhetoric at the tim that the Dems were: “tax cuts for the rich.”

Bottom line: he’ll GO ALONG with conservative initiates when it’s politically advantageous. But he’ll NEVER be in the forefront of pushing them. Santorum said that even when we ultimately went along, he was always arguing against bringing up things like partial-birth-abortion bans for a vote on the grounds that it was “too divisive.”

McCain LIVES to get positive MSM coverage. That alone is enough to sway me from giving him the benefit of the doubt -especially given everything else he’d done to the conservative movement.

I'd rather be waterboarded than vote for McCain.

I have difficulty imagining the liberal McCain having any conservative supporters. Also, he is not right mentally.

The other things don’t bother me so much but the immigration amnesty thing just drives me nuts about him.I just despise him but i just know what else to do. I hope that if he is elected he is a one term Prez(or less). He just as to know that if we give him the platform it has a trap door and a noose near it.
