You guys are so blind it isn’t even funny. If you for one second think that an Ultra conservative like Fred Thompson is electable... you are DEAD wrong. If we (GOP) want to have any chance of winning this race, we need to have someone who is not so far right.
Mike Huckabee did not need to refute all the things Fred said about him because he did so during the debate. Bottom line is that Huck was the Gov. in a very democratic state. I shouldn’t have to explain how that might effect his record.
-Huck wants the FairTax which is the most conservative of any plan.
-He wants to help out the Middle Class, but he has NEVER once said he doesn’t want to help the rich.
-Bottom line is... Fred will not win this nomination. McCain is doubtful. Romney will not win. Huck is the best bet. He is leading in the national polls. Many people find him refreshing.
Why is there so much hatred for Huck on this sight?
“Why is there so much hatred for Huck on this sight?”
Because I despise phony use the Lord for self-aggrandizement
say what will get me elected irresponsible uninformed pro-life liberal candidates.
Because, noob, this is a conservative site. You ight try reading the Statement by the founder of Free Republic for some insight. Huck is not conservative. He is far closer to democrats in philosophy than he is conservatives.
What's amazing is that Mike Huckabee was one of the few elected politicians to publicly support FR and this is the "thanks" he gets.
JMO, this Huckabee hatred just shows to me, IMO, that the far right is just as fickle and reactionary as the far left.
Probably be a long, long time, and also Fred should be wary, for the long knives of FReepers have been shown.

Because he has a personality and people like him. While he may not be my first choice I don’t see him as this big lib people keep painting him as. The fair tax is the most conservative / pro growth of all the tax plans. If I disagree with him it’s more for his protectionist - populist rants, but even that would be toned down some if he won the election.
He’s pretty conservative, pragmatic on a few issues, not perfect, but far from this big nanny state monster some have depicted him as. Huckabee says he fundamentally believes in less government and more power for the states. The smoking thing is kind of flaky, but even Thompson has his faults.
