Rush Limbaugh talked about last nights debate. Fred, being the winner, took up a good portion of his talk.
Heres some of the transcript:
THOMPSON: Governor Huckabees campaign manager said it accurately in terms of what they believe. They believe that it is over. This is a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party and its future. On the one hand, you have a Reagan revolution; you have the Reagan coalition of limited government, and strong national security. On the other hand, you have the direction that Governor Huckabee would take us in. He would be a Christian leader, but he would also bring about liberal economic policies, liberal foreign policies.
RUSH: And, you know, now, this was unique. This has not happened to date in Republican debates with a Republican calling another Republican a liberal. And this is why Fred was considered to be on fire. He continued.
THOMPSON: He believes we have an arrogant foreign policy in the tradition of blame-America first. He believes that Guantanamo should be closed down and those enemy combatants brought here to the United States to find their way into the court system eventually. He believes in taxpayer funded programs for illegals, as he did in Arkansas. He has the endorsement of the National Education Association, and the NEA said it was because of his opposition to vouchers. He said he would sign a bill that banned smoking nationwide. So much for federalism, so much for states rights, so much for individual rights. Thats not the model of the Reagan coalition. Thats the model of the Democratic Party.
RUSH: Where has this been? Everybody is asking, Where has this been, besides on this program? Where has this been in the context of the Republican debates? When I got home from dinner last night and started checking e-mail both from friends and just others, it was just shy of orgasmic there was so much excitement and happiness, and people were also frustrated, wheres this been? Freds finally come alive. This is an annunciation of the conservative agenda that has not been present in their debates before, and everybody has known, a lot of people have known its there. It just hasnt surfaced. So now, because of Freds stellar performance last night I should say Senator Thompsons stellar performance, guess whats happening? Its predictable. The Drive-Bys, media commentators, the pundits who ought to be so ashamed of blowing New Hampshire as badly as they did, they shouldnt be able to show their face, they suffer no embarrassment whatsoever, they are saying its too little, too late. We had two states. We had the Hawkeye Cauci; weve had New Hampshire. We had two states. Its too late? Fred doesnt have a chance? Just wait til we get to these states where there are full-fledged conservative Republicans, not like New Hampshire, where McCain won the election with Democrats and independents. Mitt Romney got a majority of the Republican vote in New Hampshire. But the Republicans, in a Republican primary, were outnumbered by Democrats and independents.

Yes I know the feeling. I have never wanted anyone to win so badly. Me neither. I was not part of the campaign for Reagan. I had a Dole Kemp sign in my yard, and more recently, a Bush sign, and I freeped for Bush (with my sign "W1," in the election fiasco, on Wilshire Blvd.). But I never felt as passionate about the candidate himself as I do about Fred Thompson. G-d be with him; he needs this win in SC.

I would sure like to see some more of the country music stars on the trail with Fred. I have seen pictures of Sara Evans and some others at his events. These ladies could sure help him in the south.

They wouldn’t dare screw with the goose that lays golden eggs, one right after the other. Making an enemy of Rush would tank them.

Yes this is history in the making. If we buckle down and apply our passion and patriotism we can do anything. Thompson may not be Reagan but he is a man that does not blink twice when standing up for conservatism and America. I will not vote for a candidate that sees his role as being to make nice with the left. Huckabee says as much on his stump every day with his vertical candidate nonsense.

Well unless credibility is in that coffee, he’s not going to regain it for a long time. It’s a shame, I really liked him.

Mitt Romneys VC Firm to Buy Clear Channel
If they dems can't kill Rush with the (un)Fairness Doctrine, this just might do it.
Given his support for Fred, I just don't see CC allowing Rush to continue along his current path if Romney is paying the bills.

I was not either. I was a bit too young to vote then. I found my conservatism in the library and in the life I led in WV. I found it in the value of the patriotism of our forefathers and the plain speaking men and women who surrounded me. The message of the liberal Democrats never appealed to me because of its fatalism. I saw the value of hard work in my one grandfather who worked two jobs all of his life, the farm and the tannery and still knew how to crack a joke and stoke the fire of my grandmothers ire in jest. I saw the value of ones personal sovereignty in a grandfather who believed he owned what he owned and would not back down in a fight for what he believed was right and still found to dream in the darkness of a coal mine.
I saw it in the love of my grandmothers and mom who always let me dream and never saw limits in me. I found in the love of a father who worked every day in the coal mines to make the best life for his family even though he had the simple desire to be a history teacher. I thankful that he taught me through his kindness how to be a good father and a good man.
There is no shame in sacrifice but those who would heap it on us in the name of public charity and guilt laying claim to the gratitude of the weak and lazy for themselves and then feed us on a diet of bitterness and class warfare are not our saviors. We not they are the sovereigns of this great land! We will have our say because those who came before us were not so weak as to sell their souls for the the empty promise of a bit of bread and entertainment.

In addition to his excellent performance, the fact that Fred wore a black suit could be partly responsible for his improved appearance. Those flaccid grey suits just don’t make it. Black brings out the intensity in his dark eyes and makes him look powerful, thinner, and more serious.

I listened on the radio to Rush extol the virtues of Thompson’s performance—wonderful! It just never occurred to me that I would want to watch a video of the radio program. I strongly support Fred, but I guess I’m not a Fred “junky” like you guys. When Fred’s book comes I can look forward to a video of the pages being turned.

I hope the evangelicals are listening to Rush, and are taking note of this ( and with Fred’s comments during the debate ) ... are sitting back, and taking another 2nd look at Huck, and are saying,, “ NAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa .... we changed our minds and hearts... FRED IS THE ONE !! “
