I am simply pointing out observations by good big C conservative columnists who have earned our respect and write the truth

***********************************

I'm a "small c" conservative, who can decide for herself what to think of the candidates.

You can do whatever makes you feel secure about yourself, though.

Someone should advise both women about dressing more appropriately. Those are two of the ugliest blouses I’ve ever seen.

At least Mosbacher is wearing size appropriate clothing. Mrs Huckabee needs to come out of denial mode and go up two sizes.

Oh please....as Huckabee says, "If you can't stand the sight of your own blood, then politics isn't for you".

Romney has no place to attack Huckabee on his tax raising as governor of Arkansas...espectially while claiming Reaganlike status for himself.

Ronald Reagan raised taxes while governor of California...when $1 BILLION dollars was REAL money.

Admit it...Ronald Reagan would be crucified and tar and feathered if he were running for president today right from his governorship.

All I'm asking for is a little fairness here.

You could not hear what was being said and therefore could not dtermine if they were unhappy with Ed or not.

I know she gave FRed the maximum. Is she with Huckabee now?

I bet she wishes she’d waited for FRed to get in. :)

The DC lib set will be beside themselves with the Huckabee family. The Washington Post style section will be working overtime. They will overlook somethings for a Democrat, such as Theresa Heinz Kerry’s tipsy ramblings. But Republican lack of style and slovenliness is unforgivable.

I honestly don’t remember exactly (and it’s not important) which part of the Scooter Libby mess we were discussing a couple of years ago- but I DO remember one day when we had an Ahaaah moment on a thread- realizing it’s incest in D.C. THEY ALL go to the same parties, restaurants, health clubs and weekend retreats.

I’m having another one of those moments.

See post #34.

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I just cannot tolerate this kind of politics, its unseemly and undignified, imo.

The fact that he is running a liberal/populist, using leftwing talking points, only adds to the displeasure.

He exudes weakness in his tone and attitudes, not worthy of a wartime President. His foreign policy essay reads like teen, compared to the rest of our candidates. http://www.foreignaffairs.org/special/campaign2008

But the fact that he attacked another candidates religion for votes, no matter who it is, was the worst for me.

I watch Bennet every week and have little respect for his opinion. He is similar to Bill Kristol in my opinion - for DC he’s conservative, but to me that’s like saying you’re the most virtuous whore in the room. If he has a clue about what conservatives out where people work for a living are thinking, and what we want, he’s hiding it very well.

I know several people out here in CA who watched the debate, and not one thought Governor Huckabee was even credible, much less the winner.

By the by, which democrats will the Governor endorse and campaign for in senate and congressional races this year? You know, like the democrats he endorsed over sitting Republicans back in AR...

A little more about Governor Mike...
Huckabee supported a 2005 bill by Arkansas State Representative Joyce Elliott to make some illegal immigrants eligible for scholarships and in-state college tuition, while vehemently opposing a bill sponsored by Arkansas State Senator Jim Holt which would deny state benefits to illegal immigrants, calling it “un-Christian.”
and...
Ernest Dumas of the Arkansas Times, a consistent Huckabee critic, responded most of the tax cuts were small deductions and exemptions initiated by the state legislature, that the broad-based tax cut was proposed by his predecessor and Huckabee was “the biggest taxer and spender in Arkansas history.”
and...
Roy Beck, whose 1.5 million member organization NumbersUSA played a major role in defeating the Senate immigration bill, calls Huckabee “an absolute disaster as governor of Arkansas... Every time there was any enforcement in his state, he took the side of the illegal aliens.” Huckabee responded by saying if voters are looking for the toughest guy on immigration, he’s not their man.
and...
Shortly before announcing his candidacy for the President of the United States, Huckabee ordered that the drives of 83 computers and 4 servers be destroyed during his transition phase in leaving office.
and...
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration states during Huckabee’s tenure, taxes were cut ninety times for a decrease of $378 million dollars, while taxes were raised twenty-one times for an increase of $883 million dollars.
and...
On December 26, 2007 the conservative organization Judicial Watch announced that Mike Huckabee was named to its list of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007.
and...
I could go on but this is already too long.

"Other than her political activities, Ms. Mosbacher is busy building Borghese, the old-line cosmetics company that she and her partners bought seven years ago. "Borghese had suffered from an absentee owner," she said. "There had been too much management turmoil and there was no focus and no vision. Inventory was out of control, the company was making too many products, and there were no financial controls. We had to stabilize it, bring in new management, refocus."

http://www.nysun.com/article/50863?page_no=3

It would appear so.

Also interesting from this article (March, 2007)

Ms. Mosbacher is working as one of the finance chairmen on Senator McCain's presidential campaign, having served in the same capacity the last time round. "McCain is the front-runner," she said. "This election will be like no other. With the primaries all moving up to February, it doesn't bode well for anyone who is not the frontrunner. Money will be more important than ever."

Wonder if she jumped ship when McCain was floundering this summer?

Carl Cameron of Fox told Huckabee last night something Ed Rollins had said, namely, “The Reagan Revolution is over with and dead”.

That putt Huck on the defensive . . Mrs. H. was probably telling Rollins to shut his piehole.

He has been a loose cannon recently.

Let’s find out if Mosbacher has ever LAID ANYONE OFF???

Brilliant question. It sounds like she did.

After consulting for Borghese for a year, Mosbacher took over in 2000. She immediately closed the doors to half of the brand’s outlets to retain the exclusivity of the brand. Then, in a move that mirrors Costco’s philosophy, she reduced the number of items sold to focus on core products

Absolutely ...

And Georgia Mosbacher is the last
person I’d cast to be the evangelical
camp that I’ve heard of. She’s money,
power, glamour, political networking.

My thought was that, because she DID
have a fling with Fred, she couldn’t
really hook her wagon to him, but the
posts below dispute that.

So, it doesn’t compute to me:
Mosbacher/Huckabee

http://time-blog.com/swampland/2007/06/the_mixedup_files_of_fred_dalt.html

In 1998, when Thompson was a Republican senator and a single man about town, New York socialite Georgette Mosbacher invited him to accompany her on an overseas trip. Thompson couldn’t go, and summoned the full measure of his Tennessee charm in letting her down. “I am sitting here with a long face and broken heart as I contemplate sunsets on the Mediterranean, which I will not see,” he wrote to Mosbacher on his official Senate stationery. “We must remember the unspoken vow that all United States senators take upon entering the Senate: I shall have no money, and I shall have no fun. I, of course regarding myself as an unconquerable soul, am still determined to break the second part of that vow.”

~~~~
http://beldar.blogs.com/beldarblog/2007/06/ex-girlfriends-.html
Ms. Mosbacher, the ex-wife of Houston oil baron and former U.S. Commerce Secretary Rob Mosbacher, is among other things an attractive socialite herself, and she has also endured her share of catty remarks about being a “trophy wife” — notwithstanding CEO jobs with a pair of companies and political clout in her own right (co-chair of the Republican National Committee’s Finance Committee). I suspect that she and Ms. Kehn are both used to being misunderestimated. A critic or opponent who stereotypes you hands you much of the power you may need to later surprise and quite possibly humiliate him or her.
~~~~

And ... there’s still the possibility of her jousting
politically with her ex:

http://tinyurl.com/2goowy

Arizona Sen. John McCain, continuing to try to jumpstart his indebted presidential campaign, will name renowned Republican fund-raiser Robert Mosbacher Sr. as campaign chairman, according to a prominent Republican.

The wealthy 80-year-old Texan is close to the first President Bush, suggesting to Republicans that the former president could be behind the move. Mosbacher was the elder Bush’s Commerce secretary, finance chairman of his 1980 and 1988 presidential campaigns and general chairman of the 1992 Bush campaign. For both Bush and President Reagan, he was a major fund-raiser.

“In a campaign that hasn’t had any good news in several months, this is a real bright spot,” the Republican said.

But Mosbacher’s ex-wife, Georgette, herself a leading party fund-raiser, has signed on as an early bundler for Fred Thompson’s not-quite-yet official campaign.

~~~~
But, why she would’ve left Fred to join the charlatan is indeed mysterious, given their long friendship and the affection she claims she holds for Fred and Jeri.
Dec. 18, 2006
((2006 is in the article .. did anyone else ever hear about him in 06 ?))
At the top of the site:
FIRST UNOFFICIAL HUCKABEE WH ‘08 CAMPAIGN BLOG FOUNDED FEB. 14,2005 This blog was created and is maintained by people completely and totally unconnected to Mike Huckabee, the Governor’s office of Arkansas or any other person or organization affiliated with Mike Huckabee. This is a grass roots effort to build awareness for-and support of-Mike Huckabee should he decide to run.
~~~

Republicans are also paying attention. One important look-see came from top Republican Party fundraiser and cosmetics magnate Georgette Mosbacher, who was Sen. John McCain’s national campaign cochair in 2000.

The Borghese exec hosted a fundraiser at her New York home for Huck and was wowed by his weight-loss story. “It’s something so many Americans can relate to, particularly baby boomers,” she tells us. But, she adds, he might have only regional appeal, and “we don’t need another southern state.”

Conservatives are also studying him, more wowed by his pro-family stances than his occasional tax hikes. All of which make him a top vice presidential pick if he doesn’t break out.
