If all PBAs were only for situations where the mother’s life was medically at stake, or the unborn child was KNOWN to be dying a painful death, there’d be very few. But Tiller the Killer performs more than 400 per year, for reasons so silly as the ‘mother’ being depressed.
Particularly odious because (1) ambivalence about having a child (often linked to hormonal changes) is so common that it's practically a symptom of pregnancy; and (2) abortion is a major cause of depression.
"Depression" is never a "silly" thing, and in some cases can be serious. It can often respond positively to improved nutrition, lifestyle changes, and counseling. But abortion is not a treament for depression.
