Could Fred and Huck make a deal against Mc Cain? Unless HUCK is a Mc Cain troll to divide christian conservatives

There is at least an unspoken agreement that Huck won't interfere too heavily where he is weak (e.g. northeast, west coast). Huckabee and Thompson are largely competing for the same votes. With Romney retreating from South Carolina, McCain can be competitive if Huck/Thompson split the conservative Christian vote. I can think of no deal that Huck/Thompson can make that would be advantageous to both of them.

Huck has a path to nomination (win primaries in south & heartland, pick of delegates in other states), so he has no need to be a troll for McCain.

Romney has not announced a retreat from South Carolina, he simply has pulled his ads for a while.

That could be because he is tight on money and has been running ads for months, and decided it would be better if he ran ads right before the election instead of this week.

However, I’ve seen several people take the ad stop as “pulling out”. Since “pulling out” is just a rumor, and is designed to make people think Romney isn’t trying to get votes, and to therefore suppress his vote, I am expecting a bunch of freepers to come running to denounce this outrageous dirty trick.

Actually, I wouldn’t hold your breath, because it’s against Mitt Romney, and dirty tricks against Mitt Romney are welcome.

” Huckabee and Thompson are largely competing for the same votes.”

Lets assume that Romney loses in MI. Look at Romney and you have a guy who SAYS all the right conservative things. Those conservatives who don’t like him are conservatives who don’t BELIEVE him because of his past actions and statements. Those Romney supporters in SC(and all the other states) are that because they DO believe him. Now Huck supporters in SC are for him not because he is a con but because he is a evangelical. His qualities aren’t going to attrack ex Romney supporters. McCain is seen as unreliably conservative, these qualities aren’t going to attract Romney supporters either or they would have already. These Romney voters who may see their candidate as down and out after MI are the votes available for the other candidates to pick up and they are there for Thompson to pick up. Not McCain, not Huckabee, and not Giuliani. Same goes for the rest of the south.
