Chicago congregation has 'non-negotiable commitment' to 'mother continent.' While some election commentators are looking carefully at the level of devotion Barack Obama has to Islam, it's the strong African-centered and race-based philosophy of the senator's United Church of Christ that has some crying foul. The church in Chicago was where Obama was baptized two decades ago, even borrowing the title for one of his books, "The Audacity of Hope," from a sermon by his pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The first paragraph of the "about us" section of the church's website mentions the word "black" or "Africa" five times. Focus on the African continent continues in two of the 10 point vision of the church: (4) A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA. [boldness in original] (7) A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA.

Not exactly an America first crowd.
The denomination commonly known as the United Church of Christ that we frequently encounter is rooted in German protestantism. What is the connection between this congregation and its pastor and their Afro-centrism and the more familiar United Church of Christ, if any?
Just look at the United Church of Christ Website - www.ucc.org. You will see that the entire denomination is very political and socially oriented and not very Christ centered as their name might suggest. That is why I left.
the full article from WND speaks of a “congregation” in essence having its own theology, not a denomination. The description of Liberation Theology is of a theology that had spread in the Roman Catholic Church that the late Pope John Paul combated successfully as part of his successful battle with us and Maggie Thatcher and Lech Walensa and others against communism. Obviously this will appeal to all those Democrats and journalists and college professors and other intellectual poseurs who didn’t like it that we defeated Soviet communism and felt that it “meant well” but was just imperfectly implemented.
Barack Hussein Obama is an African-American who has not shared the black American experience and, by birth and blood, a Muslim for at least 31 years. His politics are rooted in Marx and socialism...

Wow. I knew much of what’s written but to put it all together strongly makes the case for how incredibly dangerous his candidacy is for this country. It’s enough to make me wanna give money to Hillary and vote in the Dem primary to make sure this doesn’t happen.

The Trumpet Magazine issue featured there has a section featuring Louis Farrakhan -- an "empowerment interview".
From the current issue:
"The decision was made to honor socially conscious giants who commit their lifes work to saving the lives of Africans on the continent and in the Diaspora."
Spelled Pronunciation[dahy-as-per-uh] noun
1. the scattering of the Jews to countries outside of Palestine after the Babylonian captivity. 2. (often lowercase) the body of Jews living in countries outside Palestine or modern Israel. 3. such countries collectively: the return of the Jews from the Diaspora. 4. (lowercase) any group migration or flight from a country or region; dispersion. 5. (lowercase) any group that has been dispersed outside its traditional homeland. 6. (lowercase) any religious group living as a minority among people of the prevailing religion.
It seems clear the word "diaspora" is used much like mainstream Christians might use the word "caliphate".
Trumpeter magazine published an interview with Louis Farrakhan and then this:
Social Justice. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan is the recipient of this years Lifetime Achievement Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Trumpeter Award.
Thanks for the info. I’ve seen the stuff on his activist church - but all that other stuff is even more disturbing. Especialy the Alinsky stuff (like Hillary).
Those Republicans and conservatives who don’t understand the need to coalesce around and support a viable candidate soon, very soon, in order to prevent a disastrous loss of the presidency, need to read what you posted.
I don’t know the specifics other than what’s in the article. But a sacramentally valid baptism must be administered with water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Anything else is no baptism.
Thank you for the information.
Very good! Who was the pastor, Fr. Arafat?
I think the answer is that the church polity is “congregational” and not, as in the Catholic tradition, hierarchical with any central clerical authority. Each congregation is more or less independent. For churches in the Catholic tradition the smallest administrative unit is not the parish but the diocese.
Thanks for the information. On his website Daniel Pipes recently posted an interesting article about Obama’s religion. He essentially ssys that if Obama was at one time a Muslim, even a perfunctory and not a serious one, he would be subject to assassination because to strict Muslims apostasy - leaving Islam for another faith - is the WORST possible sin. To be born and to remain an “infidel” is much more acceptable than that. Interesting thought!
The muslims will never issue a fatwa on their Trojan Horse.
