This incident was a “dry” run to test for a response from the Navy, to see what radars were turned on, what evasive action was taken...IMHO, command took the proper action, that of maintaining course.....

If we sunk those boats, do you think the Iranians would claim that they were civilians on pleasure crafts?
If the Iranian Guards were to communicate back to the US Ships, they would have given the normal military exchange.
IIRC, the Iranian Special Guard Forces have just recently taken over in several quarters, including complete control of the ‘navy’.
This is not the first provocation they have attempted.
IMHO, the voice could have been a Guard all charged up with adrenaline and religious fervor, or someone on shore.
They backed off. We didn’t kill anybody. It was a heck of a day, and our Navy held their heads high.

In truth, their book describes it as 100 virgins. 72 are female. The other 28 are not.
So, either they don’t know their own ‘bible’ or plan to have 28 virgin guys just sitting around watching the chicks.

If it were anyone but Iran, I'd agree with you. With Iran's habit of exhibiting odd behavior, and our history with the USS Cole in Yemen, the actions of these Iranian boats was indeed threatening and it was meant to be, with or without the audio.....
