Isn`t that kitty food?
I`m so conflicted now.

The horse-adorers are “shocked, I tell you shocked” at the unintended consequences of their lobbying. They SHOULD have let the US horse slaughter-houses stay in business to assure humane treatment. Horses ain’t THAT different from cattle, despite what these morons (probably mostly 15 year old girls) think. (and yes, I grew up on a farm which had both—horses and cattle, that is-—not 15 year old girls—though there was one next door).

So they got the US facilities shut down and are now complaining about the Mexicans?
Beware of what you wish for - you might just get it.

Another job that Americans just won’t do, apparently.

As usual, a liberal solution backfires. Instead of domestic slaughter that we could regulate, the horses are sent to Mexico, beyond our control.
Trying to solve this with an export ban would be worse, leading to abandonment or killing and abandonment.
There are too many unwanted horses and horse rescue operations are strained beyond their limits.

I adore horses, I’ve had them all my life, but a horse slaughter ban was a BAD idea. This is what happens when you think with your heart and not your head.

So they complained about US Slaughter plants which treated horses in a humane manner... got them closed... and condemned the horses to an inhumane slaughtering across the border. Are they really helping the horses? they just made it worse for them!

This practice shocks me. Horses are sentient creatures, its appalling that we do this. Makes me sick to my stomach.
It makes me wonder, where is all that meat going? Is it in our food supply? Where does it all go? Where is the DEMAND for such a product. Its just disgusting.

Trying to solve this with an export ban would be worse, leading to abandonment or killing and abandonment. Yep, a lot of people are just abandoning them on public lands creating all sorts of problems.

Most of the big horse organizations lobbied against a ban. The American Paint Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association fought against it. They knew what would happen, and it did.

This has brought us $50 horses at salebarns often complete with tack.

If you'd like to be on or off this Upper Midwest/outdoors/rural list please FR mail me. And ping me is you see articles of interest.
I've been negligent on articles, so perhaps expand the list to any outdoors/rural issues, not just sporting but political, including receipes.
And please ping me if you post or see them.

Once again liberals are responsible for adding more suffering to the world.
Mark Levin was way ahead of the curve on this one, reporting on this what seems like a couple of months ago.

"It is time for this carnage to end," said Nancy Perry, HSUS vice president of government affairs, who called on Congress to close the border to horse slaughter exports. That's right. Since it is illegal to slaughter horses in America now, they want to close the border to Mexico so they horses can be abandoned and humanely starved to death in America.
Another fine example of liberal doo-goodism run amuk and its predictable unintended consequences.

The demand for human consumption of horsemeat is in Europe, otherwise, you are talking petfood most especially dogs. PS—horses are not sentient animals.
