If there's no FRed and no Hunter and we're left with the four headless RINOs, then what?

The next president will make appointments to the SCOTUS. I hope President Fred Thompson is making those appointments when the time comes.

If we are left with a lesser man for our nominee, it’s difficult to believe the worst of ours would make choices as bad for the country as the Dem winner.

I’ll have to take a chance on that being the case, and support the Republican nominee, when I know for certain what type of appointments would be made by any of the Dems.

Thompson should offer the VP position to Paul. I know most Freepers really hate that, BUT - WE - NEED - THOSE - INDY - VOTES. PERIOD.”

How many independent/libertarian/racist voters are we talking about?

...a craven submission destroys that hope and extinguishes the very remembrance of the ideas and principles for which we strove.

The RINO bottomline.

Yep, sometimes you play defense. If you can’t ram it down their throats, you keep them from ramming it down yours.

Amen, brother.

The best thing we can do is all get behind the strongest conservative in the race and get him over the hump. I say FRed is the man!! But Hunter would be great too!!

Go Hunter!! Go, FRed, GO!!

I guess I should have just answered you "yes" it is like we are going to die horribly.

Perhaps.

I'm convicted and am so in stride.

Life is good. : )

I don't see any difference. Just look at what Schwarzenegger has done for California and perhaps other states following California's example, with S.B. 777.

The next president will make appointments to the SCOTUS.

That is about the only reason I could consider McCain or Romney.

I think McCain's appointments would be in the range of Bush. And I think that if the right supported Romney, he would at least give us his first appointment. (But maybe I'm wrong) Any case, they would be better than Hillary. Giuliani has already told us that Bader-Ginsburg is a good standard to pick justices. So if we get Hillary-like appointments from him, why even consider him?

Social liberalism (Arnold) didn’t work for California, and social liberalism will not work for America. Down with RINOism!!

Go, FRed, GO!!

"Without the libertarians and independents, the GOP is going to lose in Reagan/Mondale proportions."

I think you're correct, but you forgot to add the many conservatives who have no intention of voting for a candidate just because of the "R" after his name.

You are sorely mistaken if you believe that the reason the Republicans have no $ this cycle is because the libertarians and independents have stopped funding them. The Wall Street and Beltway Boys have sent their $ to the Democrats. That's why any Republican who gets the nomination will be accepting matching funds from the gov't and will be outspent about 10-1 by the Democrat candidate.

Sorry, but I can't see the draft dodging, gun grabbing, gay loving, cross-dressing, illegal alien pandering abortion activist Rudy Giuliani as a very appealing or effective guy to head up our military, even if he did make some rousing anti-terrorist speeches on 9/11.

Don't hold back Jim, just say what you really think of Giuliani!

We can argue all day long on whether or not these guys are constitutionally minded, small government fiscal conservatives, and I don't believe any of them are, but we'll leave that for another day.

How many election cycles is it now that's been "left for another day"?

I am glad it won’t come to this.

I expect Thompson/Romney either right before or after the Convention. The signs are already there. Huck changed the dynamic for both men.

It will benefit both, give Mitt conservative exposure in the real world and let him get used to his new found conservatism and prove us wrong. It will also help with the GOP strong holds in the South in 2016. Fred gets the organizational help and a boost in his weak geographical areas as well.
