If there's no FRed and no Hunter and we're left with the four headless RINOs, then what?

It all doesn't matter. The GOP simply does not have the money or numbers to defeat the Democrats. Even Ron Paul, who is bringing in newcomers and independents to his campaign, is getting killed by independents going to Obama. All of the GOP candidates besides Paul and Hunter represent the same status-quo socialism, the same nibbling on the edges.

Jim Rob has just said most of what I've been saying for months now...and I've taken LOTS of heat for it. What you suggest "ain't happening. We'll pencil in our dogs and cats before we vote Romney. We're finished settling for second best with terrible men who "pretend" to represent our conservative values. We're either going to win big this time, or lose big, and although we don't look forward to losing, we are fearless in this and as prepared as we can be. I personally think we're going to lose. But that's just my opinion, and I could be wrong.

Don't get mad at me for saying yet again what I'm about to say. I won't leave you with a decent option, and I know that this frustrates people.

We won't vote for RINOs, but we won't vote for leftists either. To us, they are both one and the same. IF the GOP nominates a RINO, it's OVER. We'll make sure of it by the very nature of what we have decided to do long in advance. People like us will ensure that the conservative voter base stays split even though in sheer panic others will hope in vain that we will (logically) rally behind a "best of the worst" such as Romney. But we're not motivated by fear. In fact, we're unmoving on this.

When the dust settles and we all lament the outcome, your side will point at our side and tell us how stupid we are because we didn't rally behind the "best of the worst" and therefore handed the win over to our enemy. Of course we won't see it this way, and there we will stand, eyeing each other with contempt.

I get no joy in predicting this. In fact, I'll be happy if I'm wrong and people thoroughly rub it in after the fact! But this is the way that I think it's going to go....and in fact this is the way that it is going NOW.

The only one I CANNOT vote for is Giuliani. In 36 years of voting, I have never voted for a pro-abort candidate, and I'm not about to start.

Romney is my fall-back option after FDT. At least he is *saying* some good things on most issues, but there is reason to be suspicious of his late conversion to conservatism. Huckabee or McCain--I suppose I would hold my nose and vote for either over a Dem, but I would certainly not be thrilled.

I *am* enthusiastic about Fred Thompson. He stands for everything I want in a President. Today I donated my first $50 to his campaign. I would also *work* for his election.

I’ve been giving a bit of sober reflection to this likelihood. - i don’t drink. :)

I may very well sit this one out.

I do not like the carnage that would result if we suffer even further loses in Congress, let alone the white house, but I do not think that the lessons of 06 have run their course.

Things may very well have to get worse before they can get better for conservatives and here is why:

Should the leftward movement of the republican party continue, then we have nowhere to go.

Perhaps if those running on RINO like stance are all that can win then perhaps we should just accept this, move to the center” embrace amnesty for illegals and the resultant influx of 20 -30 million more democrats, learn to live with constant attacks on gun ownership, see the bright side of higher taxes for “the common good” and the list goes on..

I don’t think so. I still believe that we can force the reality of our combined voting power upon the GOP whether the K street Washington career elitists like it or not.

I might be wrong, and I have a lot more thought to put into this, but I am going to have to draw a line in the sand somewhere and say, thats it.

For me, it is immigration, and I'm not voting for McCain because of that.

As far as huckabee, well I couldn't care less who is elected if the choice is between him and hillary.

At least I could have some self respect left by standing squarely against her policies.

Well, I realize that's why, but the fact that it's happening right before our eyes is absolutely maddening.

Fred has become my first choice, but I actually still like Romney as a close second. I think I just trust him a bit more than many here, and I think his instincts are more conservative than he’s being given credit for. Huckabee and McCain are my bottom two of this group; they both give me nightmares (even though, as you say, Huck is at least a nice guy. But so is Obama.)

My 1st and second choices are Hunter, then Thompson. Given their traction, of lack thereof, I’d like to see Hunter drop out, endorse Thompson then both send a message that Hunter will be Thompsons running mate.

As to the other candidates............. I’m sick this is all we may have to choose from.

One note about McCain; He does not listen to his constituents and has a history of doing what he wants, even in defiance of his base. At least the others have promised to listen to us.

The others promise no amnesty, but McCain lies about what it really is and is unopologetic about it.

I just don’t know if I can pull the lever for McCain.

The pro-choice thing is overblown. Both Fred and Rudy think it ought to be decided at the state level.

And Presidents can’t do a heck of a lot about abortion anyway.

In practical terms, in what it would mean to you and me, McCain is possibly the worst choice of all.

Taking cyanide, in whatever manner it has been wrapped, at whatever dosages it is measured, is still poison and will kill you. The RINO’s are what is killing America, as well as those who continue spouting the RINO mantra: “the lesser of two evils.”

I think the real question at that point would be who is at the bottom of the ticket. A Huckabee/Hunter ticket would be good for a future Hunter presidency. Even McCain/Thompson would be worth going to the polls for.

I think this discussion would be better had when the situation comes, and not before, because the very thought of "what if we lose?" will make losing all that much more likely. Having said that...

This may sound crazy, but I say if one of the RINOs gets the nomination, we should still vote our consciences, even if that means Hillary would win. The reason I say that is because all that voting for RINOs does is give legitimacy to politicians who support various ideological points which should have no legitimacy from the American people, and it extends our slow slide into communism. A Hillary win would put us over the cliff all at once, so that we are forced to face realities which are inevitable at this point, and deal with them in whichever way is necessary to restore our country (or fail completely, but I will sacrifice everything before I accept that).

I cannot remember whose quote this is, but it goes this way: "If there must be war, let it be in my time, so that my children may know peace." If our choices are to vote RINO and delay the inevitable, or vote our consciences and deal with reality now, I say let's deal with the reality NOW, while the population still consists of enough patriots to put up a fight. One more generation down the road, once the public schools, universities, and big media are done with the kids growing up now, we won't have enough people left here who even remember how the US used to be a free country to put up any kind of resistance against evil.

By the way, anyone who focuses on "the congressional races" should pay attention to the House seats that belonged to the Republicans but were snatched by the Democrats. The Republicans cannot retake the House, unless they recover those "lost" seats.
