The South Carolina Republican Party and FOX News Channel have determined in their infinite wisdom (and audacity) WHICH candidates the voters of South Carolina will hear tonight!
FOX already pulled this stunt in New Hampshire last Saturday night. For those of us who were really interested in hearing Congressman Duncan Hunter's viewpoints in contrast to the other candidates - TOUGH LUCK.
My blood is boiling.
As a brand new citizen who voted for the first time ever in the NH Primary on Jan. 8th, I believe it's WAY TOO EARLY in the race for the media to eliminate serious candidates and deprive voters the opportunity to make well-informed educated choices at the ballot box.
To call the S.C. GOP and complain: 800-215-2344 or 803-988-8440
This is getting old. If he’s on the ballot, he deserves to be heard at the debates.
I'm curious... Would ya say the same about Ron Paul?
Exactly. And if they are going to say “he has no momentum”, their exclusion of his candidacy will keep him FROM getting any momentum.
The decision is being made in a board room and not at the ballot box.
As I recall (and you can correct me if I am wrong), the candidates must have garnered a minimum % of votes in the NH Primary to be invited on. And Hunter didn’t.
Fox will point to Hunter’s numbers, but those are a self-fulfilling prophecy. They and their pals in the MSM created Huckster with their coverage which exceeded his standing, and now they are trying to kill Hunter’s chances, with their lack of coverage, which is also disproportionate.
“I’m curious... Would ya say the same about Ron Paul?”
Of course.
I agree! Unless a candidate has withdrawn from the race, he should be included in the debate.
Anyway they also excluded John Cox, Alan Keyes, and Hugh Cort. Gotta draw the line somewhere.
Ron Paul deserves to be included in the debate as it is where he is registered although truth be told he is a RINO Libertarian who is unable to attain the candidacy of his own Libertarian Party.
The Democrats successfully kept Lyndon LaRouche out of their debates and shut out his delegates in past elections as well. Must be quite the insult when Al Sharpton gets the nod and you “don’t”.
They’re not going to cover the debate because Hunter is there?
Do I have this right?
Can we eliminate all of the crossover “independents” in NH who gave McCain a bump?
And Keyes? And Cox? And...?
>WAY TOO EARLY in the race for the media to eliminate serious candidates
What were the requirements to be considered for the debate? Just being on the ballot? Bah. Just because YOU think that YOU are serious? Nah.
For a good vetting of the issues and candidates, you have to start paring it down. It’s completely unrealistic to believe that someone with a following of 1%* is going to be nominated. So why waste our time?
*Just throwing out a number as an example.
no, 5% national polls. else thompson would be excluded too.
Hunter was my favorite but if he was going to catch on it would have happened. He’s gone. Unfortunately, I think Fred will be too, before long. Voting for any of the other clowns would be like choosing your own method of execution.
I called. They said he hasn’t met the criteria they set up several months ago.
It’s completely unrealistic to believe that a RINO Libertarian is going to get nominated too.
He’s no friend of the Council.
They have a Community to be put in place by 2010.
It’s going to be a CFR goon no matter what this year.
Requirements:
* announced formal campaigns for president;
* filed the necessary paperwork with the FEC and SC GOP;
* paid all candidate filing fees;
* met all U. S. constitutional requirements; and either
* garnered at least 5% of the national electorate OR
* place in the top five in the New Hampshire Republican Presidential Primary on January 8, 2008.
Let me suggest that NEVER has anyone received a nomination by a major party after having placed 6th of lower in the NH primary. I mean, come on. The guy does not have traction. Doesn’t matter how good he is, the people are not voting for him.
