To: SJSAMPLE

There was a law that said women cannot be sent to combat. When when was that changed? I read about the women killed in action and I figured only those women volunteered.

No law that I know of.
Women are flying combat missions from carriers and are in combat in Iraq at this moment.

There were restrictions on certain billets in certain combat arms (infantry, armor, etc.), but women can and do serve in combat units and in combat.
