There is a reason that Thompson will be supporting McCain after he drops out and that should be a factor in calculating his conservatism.

And you know this for a fact?

If Thompson publicly proclaimed that he’d never support John McCain, I’d have to support him if Hunter was no longer in the race.

If FDT proclaimed that and got the nomination, that would preclude McCain as his VP (not that that's necessarily a bad thing).
